Well Jorge at Renegade has already posted elsewhere here regarding the fun we had on the Dyno yesterday.

First, the good news is that the SV is producing quite a bit more power than I thought it would! Figures of around 100 hp at the wheel seem unfounded.

The first run of the completely stock bike produced figures of 119 at the crank and 109 at the wheel which is almost exactly in line with Suzuki's figures.

Next Jorge stuck on a pair of Renegade carbon slip-ons.

Contrary to my fears of losing a lot of power in the mid-range I was pleasantly surprised. We gained about 2 hp up to about 6k, then lost about 1 hp in the mid-range up to about 8k and then gained another 2 at the top end. So we had pretty comparable figures without any remapping whatsoever.

With just the slip-ons we got about 121 at the crank and 110 at the wheel. Not a spectacular increase but this without any remapping don't forget - and the sound is just awesome - I was a gibbering wreck riding home!! :D Woohee!!!!!

Finally Jorge did some additional tweaking which I can't reveal too much about at the moment.

Suffice to say that we got 127 at the crank and 116 at the wheel!!!!! Oh my God!! Jorge is confident that his finished mods will also give this improvement once testing is complete (and this is without any changes to the engine).

Attached is the dyno chart for figures at the wheel comparing the stock SV against one with Renegade slip-ons and the extra 'stuff'. Just look at the difference between the red and blue lines!!!!!

Well that didn't quite work. Hope this does!

Avianblue,

Thanks for the post. This is very encouraging. With an air filter and some F/I remapping, gains should be very nice without a full system...Come on PC III....

Another dyno chart attached - this time the figures at the crank.

Also included are the figures for an RSV-R with an MHP race can (the green line). As you can see the stock SV actually embarrasses the Mille, especially around the 8k mark.

Jorge is so impressed with the SV that he reckons it would give the Milles a run for their money on a track day!! :P

Just seeing these graphs proves my point about 2 into one systems for big twins too...

They may work well with the 650, but I never saw good results with the big twins.
Volume as well as the exhaust pulses not being even...can cause problems with tunability unless you are racing, and want to tune to a cetain target RPM.

Keep up the good work you guys...And I myself can't wait for the PCIII, so we can have some fun with Brother's SV

Wow! That is SERIOUS power! :o So, can you tell us how much those Renegade pipes will cost us? Any chance we could get a sound bite?

Have a look at:

www.renegade-products.com

Not sure there's a listing for the SV1000 yet but they're actually TL-R cans anyhow. I've got a pair of oval carbons - and the sound is indescribable!

The real power increase is going to come with the extra 'bits' which are going to be available very soon - well as soon as I can get back to Renegade to have them tested further!

Watch this space! B)

Oh - I've tried doing sound samples before (Renegades on my SV650) and they really don't do them justice! :(

How do the Carbon Fiber sleeves hold up to the heat generated on the Dyno? I've read that CF cannisters aren't really made to take the heat....

Good question - I'll have to point you in the direction of Jorge at Renegade to answer that one (he's on here as Powermaster). Certainly they've survived the dyno runs we put them through so far!

Jorge?

Any word on what type of style cans are going to be available? I would love to have the underseat just like the ones I had on my 650

You Naughty boy Avian :D now you gave the game away
No probs with the carbon it's for life (my life) ;)
I would not go out there and spend any money yet on filters or Pcs, just give time to Avian to recompose himself till he gets bact to the factory :D
We only intend to do two options, the bolt ons and a semi full high level system (tests next), the underseat is not on the line as the lights need enhancing, :lol
Oh, BTW, the test on the Mille just happen to have been done while Avian was there, with respect the MHP can has nothing to do with the power or luck off

Got to admit that I originally wanted an underseat system too - but having had a chat with Jorge we both came to the conclusion that it would look a bit strange with the LED brake lights sloping up the way that they do.

BTW I've seen the high-level pipework that Renegade has done so far and its a work of art! If you have a look at the way the stock bike's pipes get routed you'll understand why! :)

A little advice when attaching dyno charts. Don't convert them to JPEG. It will make all the fine lines and text go blurry. Convert them to GIF instead, it will keep all the detail intact.

Sounds good to me, I get the parts, You tune and I ride.
And I'll even you let you change your oil in my garage

Oh and please go to the Oil Recommendation thread and tell us what oil you’ll be using and why?
