ANOTHER CHEAP AND SIMPLE IDEA FOR THE SV

Here is another idea that will only cost you about £1.50 or a couple of $ to do. Now I wont take the credit as my idea here as I read about it on our other sv forum. http://www.bikersoracle.com/suzukisv/forum/index.php?
Take your typical black rubber 20mm electrical blanking grommets you will need 8 if you still have your rear footrests fitted.
Any descent electrical hardware store will probably give you them for free.
Now push them into the recess holes were you footrests are bolted to the frame, unbelievably they fit like a glove and I am sure they wont fall out.
I think it gives the bike a better-finished look all for about £1.50
Well free for me as i had a draw full. As like i said before never throw anything away.

I'll be trying that to, got a container of those somewhere........thanks Chewy :niceone:

Along the same lines...........the holes in the inner fairing for access to the headlamp adjusters annoyed me.....plugged those with small grommets.

Did this at the start of last summer to the holes in the pillion foot rest brackets.

I'm sure if you add them to your long list of bits for sale at a couple of quid + p&p for a set you'll sell loads and make a decent profit. Unfortunately for me there are no decent hardware stores about so I for one would get them from you.

Looks pretty clean to me

Are there any issues with water getting trapped inside and causing corrosion?

I think slyboy and yourself have a point plus andyw the holes in the inner fairing for access to the headlamp adjusters plugged those with small grommets.

How about a full kit only talking about a couple of £ to do.???

Will do it if you wish.

I've seen metal kits advertised for Ducrappys (Casoli do them, I think) which do look very good but I'd guess that would be much more expensive - I def like the idea of the 'cheap and cheerful' solution!! :niceone:

Exactly what it says. They blank up unused 20mm holes in electrical joint boxes fuse boxes and metal sockets.

I think i will buy a box of 100 tomorrow then add them as a kit to my website

Chewy,
B+Q whorehouse do a pack of 10 for £1.04p......... grommets that is.
It took me ages to find em but the cute blonde assistant i asked was a bit too blonde.......... they are with all the cable clips and stuff. :msn-wink:

They also do bigger ones that might do the main swingarm pivot but they didnt have any in stock as they are re fitting my local store..... maybe worth a go for the sake of a few Pence.

Just need to sort the two in the swingarm pivot points but can`t get to them to try as i still can't fit my rear wheel and the abba stand is using the holes.

Hey chewy, just a quick point.
Would it be a good idea to put some grease or WD40/FS365 or similar in the blind holes before fitting the grommets, out of sight out of mind......
Also, have you tried the hard plastic type?
A good place for grommets is Farnell (http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/home/homepage.jsp)

Hey Chewy?

Have you tried painting them at all?

Just wondering! I found a silver paint that matches the frame fairly well and wouldn't mind having these if they weren't black!

Thanks Andy seems we think alike, The two I have on order to try in the pivot points are indeed the hard type as for Farnell I used to work for them many years ago they charge far to much £ for min orders, I have got a good supply in the motor industry for this one. Also the grease is a good idea so next time you open them up nice and clean and uncorroded bolts :)
