Hey there, Florida1000
Welcome fellow SV1K-er and congrats on the nice new ride. By the way, where in the Sunshine State are you located? I'm in Sarasota myself. Maybe we could be close enough to hook up for a cruise on the new SV's...

I'm about 250 miles from Jax, here on the Southwest of Florida. The trip is pretty monotonous once you get to Orlando, cause the roads in South West Florida SUCK !! No elevation changes, not much for nice curvy roads. Its a bit different up your way. I have a brother who lives in Jax, in the Saint Nicholas area. I used to ride up a few times a year to ride with him, but his F4i just got ripped off, he just got married, and the new bride isn't really all that keen on cycles. So, I don't think any bike trip will be coming up soon. I'd say come on down, but the trip will be disappointing once you get here... I'll keep you posted if I head that way, you do the same if you decide you've got an itch for south Florida...

Jacksonville, FL. That's an idea. How are the roads down your way? I am up in Beaufort SC, just North of Savannah, GA in the "Low Country". Roads are very disappointing up here! Sounds like Jimbo77 and I suffer from the torments of the same road designer.
I recently "up-graded" to the SV1000S, from a '00 SV650. Wow, the power of 996cc in much more than smaller 650!!! Even keeping it below 5000rpm!
Sight is great! And growing fast

Hello all Floridian's. I am from south Tampa but unfortunately I am stationed in North Dacota. I should be comming back in the near future. I hope by then there will be groups of SV's cruising up to Dade city to ride in the twisties.

Some genuis in jacksonville laid the entire city out in the Grid pattern. Including most of the outline sub burbs. However if you head northwest a little you run into some cool little twisty roads. So far the best roads i have ridden are in VA in the country... Most deffinetly will drop a note if i head down in that direction any time soon. Im headed to orlando at some point to visit the, soul sucking, ex girlfriend.

Ross, I up for Dade City too. Lacoochee, Brooksville, that area isnt' too bad for Florida. I like the elevations, the sweepers, and the fact there are too many "Blue Hairs" on the road...

Hello out there, this is my first post. I’ve been reading the site for a while but have never posted. I just won an e-bay bid on an ’03 SV1000S with 0 miles for $5800 (sorry if you were one of the other bidders). The only catch is I have to drive from CT to eastern PA (USA) ~ 5hrs, but I haven’t been on a road trip in a while so I’m kind of looking forward to it. Hard to find cheaper (used etc.) SV1000 in my area (maybe in general) so I’m a happy camper. Time to retire the ’94 kanatuna 600; she had a good run.

Thanks for the welcome cronos 22.
rjk, you are right, it makes my katana feel like a toy, due mostly I believe to the big increase in torque (as opposed to hp). The handling is in a totally different class. I was expecting more katana-like ergos. I think I based this on sitting on an '04 650, which must have a little lower seat (or it was my memory). I plan to do Heli bars over the winter, and maybee a seat if the higher bars don't scoot my dumper back to the fat part of the seat.

Welcome to the site and I see since you are in Florida you will be rubbing it in that you can ride year round. I think everyone in the warm regions must complete a christmas morning ride and provide details for the rest of us stuck home freezing.
