Chewy, are you organising a UK group buy for this? If so, please count me in :niceone:

I hope no one thinks I am being Sarcastic as I am genuinely curious.

But what does one need a GPI for?

As a rider, I almost always just know what gear I am in. And in those rare moments of uncertainty, the number of the gear I am in does not seem as important as the actual feel of the gear that I am in.

Then again I do realize that not everyone one of us is the same and to each his own.

Ok, thanks Chewy. I'll have to be patient....

For me, the difference is this: If I try to change between (what I think is) 5th and (apparently non-existant) 6th, at very high speed, then it's a second of distraction that I could easily do without. With clutch pulled in and no gear to go into I feel a loss of engine control. Got a false neutral once whilst accelerating down a fast slip-road and shit myself!

Uh huh. I definitely like that idea... just a little one that you could put in a tiny hole in the dash. Something nice and bright... not bad.
I like the idea of a GPI as well, but I'd only want to do it if I could make it fit very nicely in the plastic. A single LED would be much easier... don't know how to make it work, though.

I once found instructions for a DIY gpi but can't for the life of me find it now. It worked on the basis that a certain gear sends a certain amount of volts to the er... ECU I think. It used 6 LEDs so I can't see why we couldn't do just one LED. Top gear. I reckon though it would be a bit more difficult to do one for use with a tre.

As usual, that's looking pretty trick, Chewy. Not sure I'd take that on by myself, though. I tend to lose track of what goes where, etc. In any case, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

There's always one of these if you're not sure about making your own www.gi-pro.net

I put the GI Pro w/ATRE in my ZX10 and its a nice piece. Its kind of pricey but works OK.I think it works better in a Suzuki because of the way the TRE works. The Kawi is more involved.Ride safe......Les
