hi guys,

anyone interested in doing a group alarm buy and then installing them together?

based on another thread about the topic i am considering an alarm from

http://www.scorpioalarms.com/ . i like the SRi-500's page feature.

let me know what your thoughts are.

I don't know what the prices are now, but for reference - Mine was US$313 and I got the SR-i500 with battery backup and perimeter sensor. I didn't get the SV specific wiring harness as it was unavailable at the time. I'd say the remote paging range is closer to 1/4 mile vs. the 1/2 mile advertised.

I don't know why it says it is *new* on their website since I got mine about a year ago and it has been advertised in magazines even longer.

Anyway, overall I am happy with it.

Nice idea, but already got one. Primmum wouldn't insure me without it...

I've got a G-Force by the way. Pretty good alarm.

hey sv1k4,

did primmum tell you that, or did your dealer tell you that? my dealer told me i had to buy an alarm so i called primmum and asked. their response was, "huh, we've never said that!"

Mr.G... great idea. I wish I could go in on that. The wifey has restricted my SV allowance to the basics this year... I need some decent gear, so I'll have to pass. Of course we can discuss this, and other group deals over beer and wings... anybody give some thought to a good Saturday to meet????

I'm out for this week-end...I have a bullshit management dinner to go to. As for the group buy I'm like Johnny, I've spent enough money since last November and I need some new gear at some point.

Check out this out. The price is right but I don't know about the product or vendor rep.

johnny,

why don't you organize the wings 'n beer night? i know a place in mississauga that is a bit low-class and boring, but the wings rock.

DVS, the ebay alarm doesn't appear to have a page feature. i think if i get one i want the page option.

Hey there G,

Yeah, Primmum told me that, not the dealer. They told me all the very specific things it had to have, and looking through the various models, the g-force was the ONLY alarm to have everything they wanted....sounds like someone was getting a kickback to me.

As for the pager feature, do some checking into it for sure. I can buy the add-on pager feature for mine, but it is only a LOCAL pager. It is not tied into any phone service at all (for the g-force anyway). If you are not within 250 feet (or something like that), it is useless. I was thinking of getting it, as my bike is left outdoors overnight at work in Mississauga while I am in Windsor.....but it wouldn't help at all. <_< Have no idea what the deal is with the one you're looking at, but just make sure you know how it works.
