I have an expensive set of alpinestars leathers which are kept for sunday posing, I also have a set of hein gericke leathers which i use for day to day comute.
Both have a lot of white on the jackets and in the summer are an absolute pig to keep clean, all the dead flys and grime take some shifting off and im sure constant cleaning will make the leather deteriorate.
So a cheap solution, i bought a alpinestars motocross jersey off e'bay for £14 and now wear it over the leather jacket. Its a snug fit and doesnt flap about...... looks cool too and looks a lot better than wearing a fleece or paddock jacket.
Leathers stay clean and the jersey goes in the washer.........
Ive saved £'s allready on leather care products too.

A t-shirt over leathers looks cool?! I don't know dude, post us a pic and let the forum decide!
Is a practical move, though. Thanks for the tip! I hadn't thought of it till you posted, but I guess that is one benefit of my black leathers.

 erm..... motocross jersey's are long sleeved.
The one i bought has a large A'stars log across the front and back and logo's down each arm.
Looks from a glance like a race rep jacket............
Maybe you US guys dont have a bug problem, over here bugsplat is a pain in the arse to shift off the front of your bike never mind your riding gear.

Well I find bugs are not that bad in the North East, but I also clean/condition the leather often so it last longer. Sun/Wind, and just general wear will result in the leather becoming dry and loosing its oils. I also find that conditioned leather cleans easier too.

If you look after your leathers, clean them and put dubbin on they will last longer. Also the threads will not rot, this means that if you do slide down the road it will protect you rather than disintergrate into various bits

Bugs can definitely be a ....well, er....bugger....in large numbers. Take it from someone who regularly rides through Algonquin park. Three summers of working there and two of them having a bike as your major mode of transportation teaches you a lot about how big bugs hurt at speed.
I've been wondering about those "rain jerseys" (don't know what they're really called) that I see racers wear over their gear in inclement weather. Are they for sale in the general market? Never seen any, but a great idea for rainy days. Looks good, and you can still wear your leathers!

Yes the rain suits are available and cost about £60. They look a little bit fetish to me. :sweatdrop
I have a gortex 2 piece for when its looking like a bit of rain and a 1 piece full over rainsuit which stores just about under the pillion seat for when its typically british ! ( abit too hot and sticky over leathers though !)
The mx jersey was just a simple idea and also cheap and can be thrown in the washer.
