Hello! My name is Scott and I am from Michigan, United States. Have been riding street bikes for about 13 years now. Started on a Katana 600, then had a GSXR1100, then a Ducati 916, a Yamaha FZ1 and now currently own a KTM Duke II. My dad bought a SV1000N back in September and I got a chance to ride it down at Deal's Gap in October. I was pretty impressed by the performance/handling for the dollar spent. Just put a deposit down myself last weekend on a silver SV1000N myself. I look forward to visiting these forums for advice/tips/entertainment/etc. Here are a few pics of my Duke II (which I think I might sell, but I'm still not sure) and a pic of the SV I put a deposit on:

Welcome, Always great to have another SV owner out there and on the board.
Are you going to try and make the SV Rally in June at Deals?

Here are a few pics of my dad's blue SV. He has done a few visual mods (Givi fairing, chin spoiler, solo seat cover, hugger, took off rear fender) as well as a Yosh 2 into 1 for a little weight savings and a nice sound (note: chin spoiler and bar ends were off being painted when these pics were taken).

Hi Scott
There are a few SVers from Michigan on this site. What area of Michigan do you ride? Also I recently purchased a 03 SVKS after doing a pretty large survey of the dealers in Mich., Ohio and Indiana. If you are paying anywhere near list ($8600 US) you maybe paying too much. FYI most US dealers have paid ($7400 US) for it. Of course, there are more things to consider when buying a bike than just the lowest price.

I paid $6,800 for mine, and about $7,300 out the door. I've seen some that have walked out with the 'S' model for the same price, but I'm pretty happy with the deal I got. You can't second guess yourself all the time, you know? :D

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone! I went ahead and checked out those other two links as well. As far as where I'm at, I am close to Lansing.
My SV I am actually buying used. The guy bought it in October and only has 180 miles on it. Says he doesn't care for it and wants a 600cc inline four instead. Even after tax, title and license, I will only have about $6600 into it, so I think I did alright. Now I just gotta round up the rest of the money and figure out how to get it home (I don't have a truck any longer, so I either gotta borrow one or wait for a dry, 40° plus day to ride it home).

Well, if it's much like western PA (And I know, it's worse) , you might be waiting until April or May  :(

Welcome to the site. You'll love the bike when it warms up enough to ride it.
U-Haul has bike trailers for rent. They're 14.95 a day.

Excellent choice of motorbike, well done, and congratulations to you Scott :niceone:

Too true, most of these chaps want some placcy stuff bolted all over the front of their bike. Strange.
Welcome Scott!

Every word a gem, guess which colour mine is!

Hahaha...good to see that the "color wars" are alive here as well. I see it all the time at other forums I frequent for my "cages" (my daily driver is a blue '02 Subaru WRX Wagon and my toy with four wheels is a rare bright tangerine '96 Mustang GT convertible).
I'm almost positive the hugger my dad has is an official Suzuki product that he ordered along with the chin spoiler and seat cowl. Next time I see him, I could see if he has the part number still (and make sure it IS sold by Suzuki).
Oh, and thanks for the info on the U-haul bike trailer. I was not aware they had one especially for bikes (and for so cheap). I think I'm gonna go that route so I can bring her home sooner.
