View Full Version : Are motorcyclists sexy?

I need to climb back up in the ratings, so I decided to add a poll :P So, whadayasay? Do people of the opposite sex pay more attention to you on your bike? Does it matter what make/model of bike you're riding at the time? Inquiring minds want to know!

younger women i.e. early 20's seem to take a liking to the street bikes while older 30+ women seem to give their nod more towards the cruiser.

Well since people can now hear my bike, I get a lot of looks from young chicky's (Late teens to late 20's) who turn to see whats coming. They can make their own mental visions of who's behind the helmet and jacket cause I'll wreck those nice fantasys as soon as I take off my helmet :o
Riding behind my missus I notice she gets a lot of doulble looks once the pedestrians/other bike riders realise it's a chick on that bike. More on her GSXF750, but still alot on her little CD250U, which she claims looks like a POSTIE BIKE!!!
Thats what I've found anyway

Well I don't know about myself but the SV is the Sexy part of the package. But like tojoh says when you take off the helmet and they see the bleached blonde hair is OK but when you turn around and the grey beard becomes visible   any fantasy is out the window. Unless of course they are in your age group as well then it's fine for both.

I get more attention, but only from the drunk ones when I stop at a bar. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? (No I do not drink and ride. Won't even have 1 when I'm riding  ). Maybe I'll get more when I'm out more this summer. Attendtion that is, though getting some more would be nice.

People do treat you differently when on a big bike I have noticed that. They get out of the way as you sit behind them on the motorway even when I'm happy cruising at 90.
Best thing I've ever seen was when a "bike" flashed up VFR750 I was on and a chase began at the next petrol station the "bike" was ridden by a Lovely lady and the VFR rider was red faced.
The brother in law never got over it, and It still makes me laugh.
I was pillion and from that ride on wanted a bike of my own.

Well I certainly FEEL sexy riding a bike. Not sure about looking sexy though. Being 6' tall I think most people think I'm a bloke so I do get attention from women. And my non-biking girlfriends always jump at the chance of getting a ride, especially with my partner, who looks delicious in leather
Nico made a good point about the bike being sexy. Certain bikes (IMO) just aren't sexy. Like cruisers. You might be right ReiL01 but they don't do it for me.

I get an even mix of men and women glancing my way. The girls look at you like you with desire in their heart, and the men look at the bike desiring the freedom that they know they want. All to often, I get that sad look in a man's face telling me that he once rode or he's always wanted to. Usually, a "nice bike" compliment leads to a desperate attempt on his part to defend his once fond camraderie he shared with us, but his wife or girlfriend ix-nayed his passion. I remember when I was bikeless for a year, I did the same thing. Oh, how they long to be one of us again.

Yup, Bikes do definitely add sex appeal!
Using my gf's words "size does matter" : I can remember taking that restricted license test a couple of years back with a borrowed, L-plate bearing GN100 contraption. If one wants to be sneered at - thats the bike you need!
BUT...
Apparently it has something to do with us bikers oozing rufty-tufty, cowboy- like freedom combined with dare-devil danger which especially younger lasses are attracted to.
That the SV looks the biz definetely helps!
As for the ladies, well, I know a biker-chick who was chatted up by another biker. "I'll go out with you, if your bikes bigger than mine", she said.
Poor bugger! How could he have known she was on a GSX1400 :)

The chicks think I'm hot on my Copper SV....
Then I wake up and realize it's only a dream.
In all seriousness, the most effective way to be a motorcyclist is to drive in packs, 3 or more, then all the attention is on you. Even those with classic cars look at what you've got. It's a damn good feeling.
Cause I know the chicks aren't turning their heads to look at me and my bike,

spoken like a true married man, honestly honey, that's what I said on the forum, WHAM...

Not even having a deeply sexy motorcycle like mine could make up for my shortcomings in the looks department, so I had to be honest and vote 'hopeless'.
My wife however gets very appreciative looks from boys and girls, when riding the SV1000, I've noticed that the bigger the bike the more impressed onlookers have been, when waiting at the lights for instance, and the bloke in the car has noticed that it's a girl on the bike next to him, I've seen some real double takes, and heads turning to look closer.
But then she is fit, looks great in leathers and has gorgeous red hair, (that she cut short recently  :disapint: ).

Alas the only time I'm likely to get attention on the bike is from the nurses when I fall off it !!
Does get you noticed though - just never take your lid off !!!
And whichever way you look at it - most ladeees have that "thing" about blokes in leather !!

From my observation, there is a lot more guys (driving cars or just walking) looking at my lady  when she is on her bike than at me. But anyways if we walk down the street she also gets a lot of attention from the male population too ;)
On the other hand if I drive alone I get quite a lot attention from chicks too :D

As I am still in college and realize that I am looking as good as I ever am gonna look, I would hope they are looking at the bike, cause I am not that cute. It scares me sometimes cause I get a lot more guys looking at me than girls. They hear the noise and look at the bike (i hope) for minutes if they get the chance. I even get guys approching me asking about it, while there are R1's and other cool bikes around. On the bright side I do get a lot of girls asking for rides in my classes, the only thing is I have a girlfriend and it would only get me into trouble. :ranting:

I must agree that a bike will get you attention from the ladies. The first time I had a girl holler at me was when I was on my first bike (TL1000S). I never considered myselp attractive but I wasn't wearing a helmet at the time. Gives a nice little boost to the self-esteem. :niceone:
The only girl I need attention from now is my wife, she keeps me happy enough. :buggerd:

I definitely get more looks when on the bike. However, I sometimes need help getting the "in" with the ladies. (take it easy, lads. that's not quite what I mean... ) I'm not the type who's good at the "approach" and starting conversations with strangers - well, not the pretty female strangers anyway. haha.) Sometimes the bike is good that way, as when I get off, it can be a good conversation starter. People want to know about it. Kinda sucks though when some guy's cute girlfriend wants a ride - and he's standing right next to you....uh, no thanks, honey. maybe next time.
all that said, the SV has done good by me at least once. there was once, only once so far mind you, that as soon as she saw the bike, I knew I had her. :D Didn't work out in the end, but it was fun, if brief.
Also, this is my 500th post. Yay for me! I'm off to bed now....

I get various looks from time to time. I have both a Volusia and an SV and generally always wear full leathers. I have been down once on the Volusia at 45 when a car pulled out in front, I lowsided and bike high sided before slamming in the back... Bruised elwob, ego, cracked fender and bent crashbars... Was able to ride home, so generally ALWAYS wear full leathers.
Some people look at me like I am a menace, especially when the SV is doing 80 in 35s in the back roads of Vermont and people jump in the streets and wave... Now I know how Rossi feels..
I have some bartending women assume that I have an attitude or think I am cool because I come in in said leathers, and when I am my general cocky/funny self, they make some comments, oh yeah, we know you ride, we saw you pull up.
I get more questions about my bikes from people just want to know a bit about my ride. They are surprised when they find my cruiser is a Jap bike, because I don't have tank emblems, and it does have a slight Harley look. Since I still have stock exhausts, they ARE AMAZED on how quiet both bikes are, and I also try to educate and let them know some loud pipes are just because the people are jerks, but most are for performance, or that it helps people see the bikes, and I tell them how all the time I can even make eye contact with an on coming driver, but they still turn in front of me and shocked when they really realize that a bike is there.

Shesh... ELBOW.
As to generally ALWAYS wear full leathers... I am probably 99% or higher of my riding time in full leathers. Ocassionally when working on my bike and doing rejets (Volusia) or some other small test rides of about a 1/4 mile or so, I might only be in leather pants, boots, gloves, helmet, and a sweatshirt, long shirt or if real warm T-Shirt. Out of the 8000 miles I have rode this year... Maybe 30 have not been in full leathers. Hence... Generally ALWAYS. For the folks at home without a calculator.. that is 99.7% of the time in full leathers.

I definitely get more attention on the bike b/c- 1.I'm not in a cage, 2.my bike is bright ass yellow and 3.I'm a woman. Sometimes other people's 1st impressions of me vary from: "She's some punk kid on a bike" to "Cool! A chick on a bike!" The group I ride w/has few women and many men so we do get a good amount of attention from them.

andysv1k- Lol, yes, it's Bedtime Bear. He's baby blue in normal light and glows in the dark (I bought him @Walmart last month ;) ).
Maui- yeah the only thing is the other women I ride w/get more attention b/c they're on ss bikes and mine's "not as sexy." Oh well, I don't ride to impress people.

Ride your own ride and enjoy it. There is a gal out here who rides an old Yamaha from the 90s, and lets just say she goes through tires in about 2000 miles. She rides very very hard.
Ride your own ride and don't care what everyone is doing.

I actually had a woman say to me that the bike looked like a sexy piece of raw steel. Too bad she had no comment about the rider.
And now that I took the time to read the whole thread...judging by pictures I haven't seen a single minger on this site.

What is a thundercat? In the US it's an old cartoon from the 80's.
I know tjm's post is from a long time ago, but I went through the entire thread and no one really answered his question fully.
In North America, the Thundercat is known as the YZF600R.

I get more attention when on the bike than I do when in my truck but it's about even between the Caddy and the bike.
However... and I hate to say this :disapint:
I borrowed my dad's Harley Softail last weekend... I got more whistles and waves in 30 minutes on that thing than I have in 20k miles on various sportbikes. Maybe not wearing a full-face helmet helps but it was enough to make me think about trading for a FatBoy.
But then I threw sparks all over the ditch draggin' the footboards in a 40mph sweeper I can take the SV through at 80... and I changed my mind again.

I get a little more attention. The increase is all stupid guys that tell me what they think is wrong with my bike. There was one guy a few months ago who insisted I was going to die because I hadn't been keeping my chain clean and oiled. It was in such bad shape that he couldn't believe I made it there alive! He didn't have anything else to say after I mentioned that I had just purchased it and there were only 37 miles on it. Priceless!

I wasn't gonna post or even vote. Cuz I hadn't payed attention. I usually get compliments on the bike. Yesterday, a girl practically threw herself at me when I went out to go home. I like college. Heh. :Punk:

Riding my bike is the only time that I get younger people to look at me. If I just walk up to my bike they say "Old man with a sportbike probably midlife crisis" Then I do a wheelie and leave them in the dust. Later when they catch up they say "cool old man".
So I would say that I get more looks with my helmet on than with it off.
