With the Fast Ferry coming to town (Rochester, NY) I might ferry the bike over with some friends and check things out. What do they do there? Looks like it's due north of Toronto. How long does it take to get there? I found a website, but it's almost completely "under construction".
Who can tell me more about it?

I think it would take you about 4 hours of drive to get there. I will be there for sure, this will be my first time there, we should hook up, I can meet you at the Niagara Falls border, or Queenston Lewiston.

It takes about 2 hours if you take the highway. I ride in that area all the time.
There are litterally thousands of sportbikes.
They usually have:
- A Supermotard Race
- A top speed run at the local airport
- A camping area for motorcyclists (also a number of nearby hotels)
- A poker ride
- Manufacturers are there with Demo rides
- The thunder run.... .at the end of the weekend (hmmm or is it Saturday.... getting forgetful) all the sportbikes get together and rumble down the main street with a whole bunch of people watching.
There are awesome roads up there.
I'm assuming you saw this site: http://www.sportbikerally.com/index.htm

COOOOOL! :cool2:
I gotta get this info to my friends. I am coming from New York. Rochester to be exact. There is a new Fast Ferry coming here that's going to run between Rochester and Toronto. I think catching that across Lake Ontario is the way to go and then riding due North to Parry Sound.
From my place to Toronto is about 3-3.5 hours by cage, plus 2 more hours to Parry Sound. So riding all that way would be a challenge. I'll take the easy 3 hour Ferry ride and ride for 2 hours. Much easier. :)
But would definilty like to meet up with anyone who's going.

Even if my buddy's don't want to go, I do. :msn-wink:

Haha - no rivalries...... but ya there are people that come from all over the place. I have a friend riding in from Montreal, but I'd say at least 90% of the riders are from Ontario.
Did you know that the Beaver is our national animal? What better choice is there?
Scarface -> sorry dude, I thought you meant from Toronto to Parry Sound.

No I didn't know the beaver is your national animal. I would have guessed moose.
But beaver is a great choice!! (w00t)

Talked to one of my friends last night. He rides a GSXR1000...errrrr, well, will be riding it once he's done rebuilding it. lost it doing a burn out at the bar last summer. bent frame, busted up plastic. He almost has it fixed though. Just cosmetics now.
Anyway he was interested. I'm gonna try to get a group of guys together to go.
Canada is like a second home to me. My Mom was born in Napanee, Ont. and moved to the US in '57 with her Mom, my Grandmother. The rest of that side of the family moved back to Canada, except my Grandmother (and Mom of course). I spent A LOT of time in Canada as a kid. Canada is a great country.
Scarface - Where are you anyway? "Toronto Area" is pretty big.

Napanee....that's where Avril Lavigne is from. I believe Scarface lives in Mississauga about a mile from me.
What are the dates of the Parry Sound event? My friend has a cottage 20 minutes south of Parry Sound. Unfortunatly he does not ride...

Cool guys! I'm in Etobicoke ... less than 15 minutes from Dowtown and less than 15 from Mississauga. BTW, my Dad use to work at Xerox when we lived in Brazil.... so I spent a fair bit of time in Rochester. The home of Kodak and Bauche & Lombe (SP????) as well as Xerox.

I had lost track of this thread, but I would be interested in meeting up and riding there. Probably haul my bike though. It's 6+ hours from my home to Parry Sound judging from the maps.
Now if some of us could meet up in Toronto, I'd Fast Ferry the bike over the lake and ride from there. That would be cool.

Just an FYI, but Toronto is only 1 hour from Niagara Falls.... and from Toronto to Parry sound it is a 2 hr ride.... but not quite 2 hours until the twisties.
I didn't think it would take 3 hours between Rochester and Niagara.
Also, if you guys are ever interested in just hitting some local twisties..... they start VERY close to the Lewiston Bridge (just North of the Falls). So we could spend a decent day riding between Hamilton and Niagara.... check my other post.

Ok then, something doesn't add up. From my house to NF it's 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.
It takes a full 3 hours to get to Toronto from my town. I know this becasue my Brother and I went from his house (.5 mile from my apartment) to just North of Toronto to get his Bull Terrier puppy about 8 years ago. And it took 3 full hours to get there and get home.
About 1 or 2 years later we went back to Canada to a dog show/gathering of Bull Terriers that the breeder he got the dog from was having. It was at least 1 hour North of Toronto. I'll have to ask him where it was we went. We must have been near Parry Sound.

OK here goes.... from the border (after you crossed it with no stopping after) it will take you 1:15 MAX from Niagara Falls to the Downtown exits. From Fort Erie.... it will take you MAX 1:30. Some local crazies have been known to go from Niagara Falls to Weston Rd/401 (N/W part of the city) in less than 30 minutes during the early hours of the morning..... errrm ...... not recommended to go that fast. :pcplod:
Now, if you stop... encounter bad traffic..... drive super slow :baby: ... (heh heh) then it may be different. Also Toronto is pretty big. If you go to the North of the city, then it may take you longer, especially because the main highway that goes there (401) is more like a parking lot than a highway. 2 hours to Parry Sound is about right.... but it can be done in even less than that..... 1 hour north of Toronto will put you around Barrie or Orillia.
One hour or one and a half to the border.... So that means you can come and ride around the Niagara area quite easily.

Yes and I am very tempted by your offer to ride the area. A little later in the summer and I might take you up on the offer.
I've been to Private Eyes a couple times. How far from the border is that? I never drove so I didn't pay much attention.

I'm not sure where the peelers are down there. I will let you in on a little secret though. There is the AWESOME 14 or so turn road less than 2 miles from the border..... KNEE DOWN HEAVEN!!! It is low speed and you can see through 90% of the turns.
BOING! (It will make you hard faster than the strippers, that for sure) :Punk:

Metastable, you must drive really fast! I would say Parry Sound is about 2.5 hours from T.O (depending on traffic but I always head that way on a Friday afternoon) and Niagara has got to be over an hour and a half away at resonable speeds.

Hey I live right on the QEW (in Toronto) and my sales Territory is West of Toronto and North up to Parry Sound and beyond. It's huge. Niagara for me (remember I don't have to bugger around city streets to get on the highway) is done in 1 hr... driving speeds.... oh 120ish - 130ish which is par for the course on the fast lane. I get passed. I just went to Orilia today and from the start of the 400 to Orilia it took me less than 1 hour.... again, I wasn't going all that fast.
Plus remember that the Lewiston Bridge is actually much closer than the other ones.... and there is no city driving involved either.

Okay, thought I'd bring this thread back up to everybody's attention. This rally is just a few weeks away, and people should start their planning if they haven't done so already, and they want to be there.
Right now, my plan is to be there with some friends. A buddy has a cottage just outside of town, so unless one or more of the buddies' girlfriends throw a wrench in things, it looks like I'm a go. Aw, hell. Even if my buds can't go, I'm still going. Look at those pics! I can't miss that....
For those wondering, I'm in Brampton, which is very close to Mississauga, not far from Toronto at all. Group rideouts are a possibility to this thing. I will be riding rain or shine, no doubt (torrential downpours notwithstanding).

Hey Guys - I kinda goofed up on this one. I accidentally booked a track day with a budy of mine for this weekend. So I'm kinda commited. However, if anyone wants to do the Nelson track at Shannonville.... let me know. It is on July 11. I will be prepping the bike up on the Saturday, so no Sportbike Rally for me this year. DOH!!!!

But no, I'll definitely still be hitting parry sound. that track day will just wait till next year (when there's a little more money at the BEGINNING of riding season!)
