Just wanted to say hi as I join this great site after lurking for a few months.

I just picked up my 03' SV100s (Silver) leftover monday night. I got for what I consider a steal at $5999 USD. Suzuki is also running some great specials right now on financing. I got the bike for $45 a month at 3.95% for the first 3 years of the loan. I am getting married in 2 months and looking for a house at the same time, the misses wanted me to wait till after we got our house to get another bike but after i told her the deal i could get she gave me her blessing and I didn't think twice about it. Love the V-Twin, I am still in the breakin period but I have gotten on her a few times and I cant wait to see what she can do. I own an old 1980 650 Special as well, my first bike that I picked up last summer for $300 USD. It only had 14,500 mi on her and i put about $600 into it (small stuff) and and she runs great. Now that i have the 1000s i plan on restoring the 650. I look forward to hearing more great stories and info as a newbie member of this site!

Thanks guys for the warm welcome, yes this is definately a great start to a New Year, and yes, although I got the blessing from the misses, going on day trips on the weekend (on the bike) are a different story! Its a little harder to her blessing for those. lol

Great deal on your SV and I think you will find it is a great bike. And as for the old 650, having owned three of them over the years they are one heck of a fun old crock too. You probably know this but the 650 has a pretty large following, particularly in England, lots of repro parts and upgrades available. Your only problem is you have two extremely attractive projects going and vying for your wallet. What a dilemma!

...the bright side is that an SV is BEGGING to be modded, and this is the best place to find out about low/no cost mods that work and to pick up great deals from board members selling off their last mods in order to finance their next. My carbon cans from a board member off the east coast. Whether you go new list price on the credit card or scrounge around for low cost like I do is your call, enjoy....

Thanks again guys for all the warm welcomes and yes it is quite a dilemma. Where to spend the money, restore the classic or put new cans on the SV, what do to what to do. As for the 650, I know what a huge following there is for this bike as well, found a great site that has parts for this bike dirt cheap, reliable and fast. If any needs a hookup, if they dont know already, try http://www.mikesxs.com/
