my Shoei X11 DAIJIRO MEMORIAL TC6 should be in this week. up to this point i have been using my 14 year-old shoei rf-200 [yikes!]. just wondering if anyone else uses an x-11.

what do you think of it? i have heard that it is noisy; i wear earplugs, so that doesn't concern me too much.

i ordered the x11 after reading that the venting is excellent. [cue comments about how crappy the venting is. . .]

i just hope the visor doesn't fly open when i do shoulder checks like my old shoei does now [scary!]. . .

cheers,
JC

I use an RF1000 which is not near the quility of the X11 but does use the same sheild system and you will not have any problems with the shield coming open. That said, the fit and finish of Shoei's have allways be excellent. Wish I would have sprung for the X11 myself.

When buying my lid I did as much research possible and from that I say Shoei pays the most attention to aerodynamics of all the manufacturers and probably the best lid out there. I went with Shark again but only because of the fit and it served me well before while crashing. Also I liked having a novel design and nobody was buying the Laconi as he was useless at the time, (luckily he's now changed his design). Anyways no helmet is quiet enough not to warrant earplugs.

yeah, it's interesting, i never wore earplugs until this bike. i figure, being a musician [which is hard enough on your ears], i should wear ear plugs. now i can't imagine not wearing them.

I have an X-11 from last year. I thought about getting the Kato replica, but it was much more money and kinda freaked me out to have a dead guy's helmet.

Anyway, I LOVE the X-11. It is much quieter than my old HJC and it stays put. I bought the mirrored face shield for day time. It's very light, cool (temp), and easy to swap visors (under 10 seconds).

I got mine in all silver to match my SV. I commute every day, so I don't wear earplugs normally, but for longer trips, they are still a good, cheap investment. Although, I still think it is a quiet helmet compared to my olders ones...

that's cool. i will eventually order a tinted visor. i have one on my old shoei and i love it. with these new quick change shields, it is much more convenient to swap your tinted and clear visors.

Just be sure to get the CX-1V visors not the CX-1. They changed them slightly for the X-11 and they had a factory labeling issue when the helmet first came on the market. The bags would say CX-1V, but stamped into the visor would only have CX-1. I got a free Shoei T-shirt for my trouble with that, but I think they are all sorted out now.

thanks for the heads up. i love how easy it is to replace your visor nowadays.
