My last bike was a Suzuki VL1500 LC Intruder (big fat cruiser).
Then I had an Intruder 800
Then it was a Kawasaki Vulcan 750
Then it was a Honda Rebel 250 for the wife
Then it was a Yamaha Seca II
and I learned on a Suzuki GS 500

I guess I have owned from all four major Jap cumps.
Not a major problem with any of them. They were all my favorite at the time.

My list seems paltry - still I've enjoyed every minute !!! Tend to keep my bikes for quite a few years unlike you boys who change them more often than your underwear !!!

125cc Honda Benly - got me through the test

Honda VF 750 - yes the old one with all the problems - yes it died as 8 of its valves bounced neatly off the approaching piston when the pathetic camshaft tensioner spring broke.

Yamaha TZR 250 - great 2 stroke fun

CBR 600 - FJ the orginal teapot version

CBR 600 - FP - the slightly later version

Now - the SV, a 1916 BSA and a 1919 P&M.

XS650
1st December 2003, 04:10 PM
There seems to be a trend, and my story seems to follow the same:
From the beginning:
1973 Yamaha AT3 125 - wish I still had this
1971 Honda CL 100- picked up for $100, sold a month later
1978 Yamaha XS 400 - toured the country on this one, to the dismay of friends.
College, Marriage, then divorce
1982 Yamaha XV 550 Vision - Fun but flawed
Marriage, mortgage, no money, broken Vision
1980 Yamaha XS 650 - bought in 1989, ridden, revised, restored, parked. Still occupying space in the garage.
1984 Yamaha XS 400 Seca bought for the wife in 2000, much better ride than the 650
2003 Suzuki SV1000S - Why did I wait so long?

BlueTroll

Over the past 29 years (I'm an old phart).....................
03 SV1000N (blue) 3800 miles, current favorite steed (love it madly)
97 Bandit 1200 (maroon) 36k miles, torquey! (still in the garage)
89 NT650 Hawk GT (red) 56K miles, mountain road bike (still in the garage)
87 Kawasaki Concours (maroon) 32k miles, trade-in for the B12 (miss the bags)
81 KZ750 (silver) 24k miles, great back-road scratcher
79 KZ650 (blue) 14K miles, great seat, smooth motor, but I crashed it! :-(

With the exception of the brick for the saddle, this is the liter v-twin I have been waiting for over the last 10 years! Can't wait to take it up to the mountains or to a track day.........yeeeeehaaawww!

Chronological order:

1970: B&S motorized bike - burned a dirt ring around the back yard.

1972: Honda 50 street - jumped it and rode it into the ground. (They're bringing this one back, for nostalgia I guess.)

1974: Honda 350 Scrambler - street and dirt, totalled it and my leg. :(

1976: Kawasaki 500 Mach III 2 stroke - Cranky and dangerously fast!
1976: Suzuki 250 stroker (street/dirt) - Adequate but not enough gumption.

...27 years bikeless (marriage, kids, divorce, remarriage)

2003: '95 Suzuki GS500 - to re-learn on. Handles great, not much muscle. (Still have this one, it won't bring enough $ to be worth selling.)

2003: '00 Suzuki VS800 Intruder - Had to try a cruiser type. Tricky turning, hard ride, and not enough oomph.

2003: '03 SV1000n - Now THAT's what a bike SHOULD be. Good handling, plenty of power, I think I'll keep it. :niceone:

Next: DRZ400s? DL1000 for more upright ergos? FZ1 or Bandit 1200 to try an I4? FJR1300 or Aprillia Futura for touring? KTM Duke? Triumph Speed Triple? Geez there are a lot of great bikes out there! If only I had more time and more money.

my list,
Suzuki AP50 (better than a FS1E as the gears went the right way  )
Suzuki X5 200,
Suzuki GS 550 EC (had an Avon deathmaster on when I got it, and couldn't afford a new tyre at the time, took for ever to wear out)
Suzuki X7 250, hand me down from my brother after he got a GS750 (didn't like little bro having a bigger bike) still got it in the garage, so if any body got a 1978 blue tank and panels I will be interested!
Suzuki GSX 750 ES, (the one with the 16" front wheel, and they said TL,s were slappy)
Yamaha RD350 YPVS(first race bike)
Decorite framed Rotax 250 tandem twin (got my knee down for the first time on this but didn't know enough about high powered 2 strokes to make it work good)
Yamaha FZR 600 (ex Phil Borley(works on shakeys bikes) national winning bike, proved I wasn't going to be a star as I couldn't win club races on it  , F*****g fast for a 600 though, go past 1991 GSXR 750 down Snetterton back straight)
Yamaha FZR 1000 Genesis(back to the real world on the road, Marriage, mortgage, kids etc had this for 10 years)
And now Suzuki SV1000S
finally got away from I4s and haven't looked back, :msn-wink:

Most favorite to least:VMAX(thrust factor was unmatched, not even busa)
RZ350(what can I say I loved smoking the big boys on that moped)
SV1000N(older now and like more thrust)
ZRX1200r(fast and even handled good in the right hands like mine)
Hyabusa(pig in the turns, but was fun on open roads/sweepers)
SV650N(a knife)
HD sportser sport(fun tweaking engine-expensive hobby to get it to handle though)
Valkyrie(great for long hauls with the wife)
FAZER(holeshot fun to a lesser degree than VMAX)
RD400(bad first bike, too fast and brakes sucked, but was fast)
Royal Star(comfortable, but slow and lame even for 2 up riding)
CB350(sucked period)

2001 Honda VTR250. For those people outside of Australia, you may not know what this it......... Imagine a Ducati Monster, but shrink it until its a 250cc. Its a pretty cool little thing, especially with a decent can on it. I still have it and its actually louder than the SV.

I'll post a picture of it in the gallery for anyone interested.

Looking back into the mists of time:
Ymaha YB100 - like an FSIE but with 100cc, called it my pogo stick on wheels, WOW was the suspension bad!
Honda CB250T, dog slow, heavy BORING, but then I didn't know any better. (25,000 miles)
Honda CB250N, basically the same but with the Kings New Clothes. (20,000 miles)
Honda CB250RS, possibly my fav. bike of all time: light, nimble, quick enough to blow LC 350 into the weeds if there were any corners. (36,000 miles)
Honda CBX550, Sebring pipe, F2 tune, GORGEOUS sound, could hear it all the way across town (5 miles away - I know cos some scum bag stole it and I could hear him riding around on it, bust the cases over-revving it. The police found it dumped 50m from their front door.) (15,000)
Honda CB250RS, yes another Honda, you'd think I'd learn! (45,000 miles)
Suzuki GS750 Suzuki UK at the time were less than useless, parts were a real prob. (100,000 miles)
Yamaha XJ650, Pantera fairing, sound system , the works (50,000 miles)
Kawaski GT550 for a shafty it handled and could blow off a lot more esoteric machinery on the twisties (120,000 miles)
Kawasaki GT550 (140,000 miles)
Kawasaki Gpz 550 A bit of a slug considering the rep.(100,000 miles)
Kawasaki Gpz 750 Looooong stretch over the bars, led to back probs. for ever more (120,000 miles)
Kawasaki Z550 Ltd Really wierd thing, fell into corners (55,000 miles)
Honda CB250/600RS Yes, I know another one - my brother has it now and it's still going, got an XR600 slotted in and produces lovely power, frame still up for it. (30,000 miles)
Kawasaki KR-1S OOOOOOOH Boy, this was serious fun but needed a new engine every 1,000 miles! (6,000 miles)
Yamaha FZR1000EXUP Hoooooooooooo Boy, the Daddy! Brilliant for long distances, great on high speed roads but just tooooo heavy for Spanish roads. (60,000 miles)
Suzuki DR 600S Off road slug, felt like the engine was full of snot. (46,000 miles)
KTM GS600 Nani Roma won the Baja Aragon on MY BIKE :bleh: . Semi factory engine, pulled my shoulder out first time I rode her. Absolutely the Dogs cojones. Still got her and you'll need a crow bar to prise her off me. God knows how many miles cos she doesn't have a trip meter.
And soon......

I'm not sure why but I've always really liked Suzuki's and while I've owned several other makes they just haven't enthused me as much as my beloved Suzuki's. For me Suzuki seemed to have the most charisma out of the Jap manafactures and they also seem to have an in-bulit aspect of the hooligan in them that really appeals to me. I also find that Suzuki tend to be a little more innovative and daring in their designs which again gives their bikes a bit more personality and a more distinct identity than the other Japanese companies.

My last bike was a GSXR600WV and I'm 100% certain that my next bike will also be a Suzuki too, most likely either a next generation SV1000S or the newest shape GSXR750 I can afford (with my bank balance that means it'll be the original 20 year old launch model!). Suzuki brand loyalty for me all the way!

Hmm, never owned a bike but my last few pillions before the SV were
Yamaha R1 , Ducati 996 (apparently there is a pillion seat), and Yamaha FJ1100. And yes I was pillioning whilst my Mum was 8 1/2 months pregnant with me, on whatever bike that was....... GS1000????

Wow - some of these lists are huge, and make mine look quite feeble! My excuse is I like to use them and put lots of miles on them, rather than swop and change regularly (apart from the fact also that I'm always skint!!)

Here we go from latest to earliest covering the last 17 years:

SV1000S
VFR750
CBR600FM
CBR600FM (race bike)
SV650SY
CBR600FJ
KLR650

Let's see if I can remember:
100cc Hodaka fuckin'-a!
the hodaka super-rat was my first real MX bike!
i had about 6 bikes before that, but they were all minibikes, scooters, & wimpy japanese two-smokes. the super-rat ruled them all.

250 BSA Star
Triumph Tiger 200
R69S BMW bleah, bleah, bleah...

CB350 Honda my first streetbike...
what a PoS.

SL350 Honda thankfully, i couldn't talk my father into letting me have one...
what a PIG.

BMW 250 Single R-27, Just wished I had it back as they were few and far between) hurl.

400cc CZ i so wanted a maico 490...

250cc CZ "Falta" Replica (some of you probably don't remember/know who he was, really great Chech rider.)
250 Cooper (Great Chasis, otherwise a flop) bleah, bleah...

Yamaha RD250 buddy of mine had one...
what a vibrator. bleah.

Yamaha CT175 had one of those, too...
what a great bike! the original DP.

R75 BMW
Honda CX500 Turbo bleah, bleah...

Honda V45 Sabre another great bike...
buddy of mine had an original -- man, was that thing fast. i loved it.

2-Honda CR125's
3-Yamaha YZ125's great bikes.

KTM 250
2-Kawasaki KX125's dunno, never rode 'em.

2-Yamaha RZ350's
2-Yamaha FZ600's
Yamaha FZ750
3-Suzuki GSXR 750's
2-FZR1000's more great bikes.

Yamaha XV1000 Virago
Yamaha XVS1100 V-Star more shite bikes.

Honda VFR800Fi my wife put 60k miles on one...
would still pull power wheelies when we sold it -- what an excellent bike. loved it.

SV1000s nice bike, but the nekkid one is better. :)

God, I wish I had my money back o some of these..... :disapint: indeed. see above. :)

Since I'm only 20, my list is pretty short.

1. 1982 Honda 50 dirt bike. I LOVED that bike.
2. 1971 Honda SL100. Piece of shite.
3. 1999 Suzuki DR350. Could climb a wall.
4. 1986 Honda VF500F. Spent way way more time working on it than i did driving it. Fast as hell, but a piece of shite.
5. 2003 Kawasaki ninja EX250. With full Muzzys system, jet kit, and intake work I got it up to 113 mph and it weighed less than 300 pounds soaking wet. I even took it to the track once and the best I could get was 14.9 at about 90 mph. Loved that bike but sadly it got stolen. I have actually considered getting another one, but i won't until they put a new frame on it.
6. 2003 Kawasaki Ninja EX500. Faster than the 250, but almost 150 pounds heavier. Piece of shite (did get it to do 130 mph completely stock though)
7. 2003 SUZUKI SV1000S - This is my current bike and it is most certainly in a different category than all the other bikes I have owned. I leave on my trip to Alaska in 21 days so I am going to push my SV to its limits over the next 5 months. I will post updates and pictures whenever I can. Oh, and I am putting on a few more mods before i leave (TRE, Speedohealer, new tires, oil change, 520 chain conversion kit with gold chain and 2 teeth up in the rear, k&n filter, removal of airbox lid, and brisk spark plugs)

Before the SV I had a 99 GSXR which I guess technically I still have as it is sitting in my local bike shop looking for a new owner, before that was a Honda VFR 750, 10year gap before that a Yamaha Seca 750, Yamaha RZ500, Yamaha RZ 350, Honda 250 streetbike?, Bultaco Sherpa T250, Hodaka Dirt Squirt, Yamaha TY250, and Honda 100 enduro.

I guess I'm due for either a Kawi or some fine Italian import next, but I think the SV will have to stay no matter what!
