Just thought I'd post up the pictures i took of Kim's bike whilst I was wrecking it in the Garage, puting bar risers and normal bars onto to it to allow for an more relaxed riding position for her!
First I chopped the screen to allow for the bars to be able to turn from lock to lock. This was done using a template, and a junior hacksaw - and after remembering my perspex skills from school 20 years ago I eased the cutting process by heating up the blade with a blow torch first! (Sorry, only have the after shots, forgot to take one before!)

Here's a picture of the bike before I started breaking it up!

As soon as I started I realised that just to get the yolk off the side of the bike had to be dismantled....so off came the left upper fairing!

Eventually the yolk was free, three bolts on top were not a problem, the biggest time consumer was trying to get the two bolts that hold the lock barrel in place free! My god they must have used a tube of locktite on each of the little beggars!
Eventually it came off though, and it was promtly measured up, drilled and the risers and bars fitted!....

....then the left hand grip and switch gear was removed from the left clip on prior to this being removed.....

...then the same happened with the right clip on..........

I then got fed up with taking photos of each stage so, after buggering up on set of bars by drilling a hole in the wrong place, and having to go and get a second set (good job they only cost £14 a set!) I reassembled all as can be seen below.....

......Now the eagle eyed amongst you will notice that the front brake caliper has still to be attached as the hydraulic tube from the lever to the splitter on top of the front mudguard is about 6 inches to short, so it will have to be replaced, also the brake fliud reservoir needs to be mounted in a similar way to the method used on the clip ons, as I don't want to have to fork out for the whole lever mechanism from a naked, that has te reservoir piggy backed onto the lever. This has been done by drilling a second hole in the bars and finally getting to use my 'tap and die' set, I threaded the hole in order for the reservoir to be mounted using the same bracket that was removed from the clip on.

Finally, I have to strip the whole thing down again, to fit a set of the bars that were first posted up in a picture, as having checked the turning abilities of these straight bars, your hands and the levers will clatter against the edge of the upper fairing/screen/mirrors! So it's back to the Bandit/SV(N) type bars at another £14!!!!!!!!!!!!! :argh:
Once all has been done, and as long as I get it finished prior to flying south, I will post up the finished article for all to see!

On a final note, many thanks to tjm73, on providing the risers that set me on this project, also to him for reminding me in a PM as I haden't even started it 10 days ago!
Also to all of you who think this kind of work is better left to the experts, well I thought that aswell, but as long as you are methodical and think about what you are doing, anything is possible!!!
