I just picked up a new 03' SV1000S at an unbelievable price of $6599. After dealer fees, tax and tag I walked out the door for $7700 and some change. :niceone:
I am still breaking her in, and so far have bought frame sliders and a rear stand for maintanence (my VFR had a center stand).
With all the $$$$ I saved, I am looking at what mods I want to do. I was strongly considering a lower fairing, but I am not convinced the bike looks any better with it. I will probably get the rear hugger and rear fender kit from Suzuki, so that will burn another $300.

So my thinking now goes to buying soom quality pipes. The OEM pipes look kind of bland, and I could go for some extra volume as well. The Suzuki dealer has some Yoshimura bolt ons for around $600, which look a little better, and are supposed to sound pretty good. The thing is, they do not help HP at all. The up side to this is you do not need to reprogram the injection or get a PCIII. It seems to me to be kind of wastefull to not get some performance benefit out of a modified exhaust.

What does everybody else think about this? I am not looking to get huge performance gains, as the bike already has quite a bit more HP and torque than my VFR did, with about 70 pounds less weight. I am also not looking to make the bike excessively loud, but want some sexy sounds to come out of it.

What is everybody elses critera for buying pipes? I want better looks, sounds and performance, at a reasonable price. I personally do not mind if I have to get a PCIII, since I am a Controls Engineer anyway, and what a cool chance to tinker. I would like to keep the total price in the 1000-1200 range including the PCIII.

Can we put togeather a list of different exhaust systems members have used, with pictures, cost and performance gains? I have been hunting in the site for a few days and the information is here, just it is spread out all over the place. If you do not know the actual performance gains. just list what the manufacter claims to get. If you have dyno data, even better.

I will be shopping around in the mean time, but any data will greatly help my decision making process.

All you need. :cool2:

There are some places selling the PCIII at a bit of a reduced price if you buy your exhaust through them. Parts411 and Hammythecanman just off the top of my head. Theres plenty available in your price range. Aluminum slip-ons through a full titanium system.

Congrats on your bike! I love mine. I used to live in Orlando as well. But yes just use the search function there is lots of info and opinions on exhausts for this bike. Bottom line is if you want the look and sound for the cheapest and easiest installation grab some bolt ons. You want more powah out of it then grab a 2 into 1 full system that yoshimura or m4 or several others make for not much more than the bolt ons. You want max power probably renegade 2 into 2 full system or the ti- force 2 into 2. Not a whole lot of options for full system that is 2 into 2 yet.

If you are looking for 1000 to 1200 range I would say get some bolt ons, mod your airbox with a bmc filter and at least take off the snorkel, and then get a pc3. I would get one of the 2 into 1 systems but I love the dual can look. I get tons of compliments on my yoshimura trs pipes.

Good luck!

Oh... man that TiForce set-up (almost) had me donating organs to get..... just gorgeous.

Truth is, I scored a yosh 3/4 of Ebay for approx. 400 shipped; brand freakin' new :surprise: There's decen't performance to be had by a full system upgrade, but I don't have much faith in slip/bolt ons for anything other than looks and/or noise. Look around for a good deal on a full system is my advice... I paid less for one than a pair of slip-ons, and the performance gain was quite noticable. If you have to spend double the dollars to find a full (as compared to bolt-ons), but really don't give a rats ass about performance, go with the bolt ons. I'd even go as far as to say the same with the PC3: get one with a full system, but not if you're sticking with bolt-ons.

Hope that helps any

As an eye witness, these DO look(and sound) very good indeed! The Renegades would be the only other choice for 2 into 2. I've "seen" both...it's now up to you.

Hey mooner I was meaning to ask you about performance increase from your yoshi cans to this full system...I have yosh trs cans right now but the seeing all the stock pipe work just bugs me I want a well designed exhaust system.

Jesse, besides being about 15+lbs lighter the low end and midrange seems better. Yesterday I downloaded to the PCIII, a map for the TiForce, but only have done a short 5 mile ride to work. A dyno session is in the future. The TiForce is not has loud as the Yosh race cans, which sets off car alarms a lot. I got the TiForce mainly because I like the look of the high mount dual cans, better than a single can.
