Shopped for boots for quite awhile - looking for a good competition quality sport boot w/o the Daytona price. Liked the Sidi Vertebra's, Alpinestar S-MX3, S-MX Plus, then came across these newly introduced boots from Gaerne, the G-RS. I was familiar with their expansive line of off-road boots, but I hadn't paid much attention to their street boots. I liked the fact they had brought much of their off-road structure to the G-RS. I've often wished I had more of the protection of my Fox Forma Pro motocross boots in a more flexible & manageable street boot, & Gaerne has done it at a considerably better price than Sidi in their Vertebra line. I think they're very comparable to the Vertebra & the S-MX Plus, but @ $199.00 they're about $130 less than the Sidi's & 35 or so less than the S-MX Plus! So far I'm quite satisfied with them, especially the way I can tuck both my leather & textile pants into the outer shield which clamps them snuggly to the outside of the inner boot. Also, the lining breathes quite well.

those look really good... I've never worn riding boots before, could they be "ok" for walking around? I still need to get around the university but other people tent to get afraid of motorcycles while they are walking.

Almost look like ski boots! Should be good protection in the event of a lowside on Wentworth Springs, eh Tracy? Walking...those boots AINT made for walking....(Nancy Sinatra :D )

You can walk in them fine as they pivot at the ankle for several degrees forward & back, I just wouldn't want to hoof it all day in them. They are obviously somewhat compromised as general walking footwear!

Hey Rubber Man, how you doing! I was waiting on these to arrive before our ride with you, but of course they showed up the day after I left :pinch: My old 10yr old Alpinestars had been glued back together enough already! They do look like a cross between ski & motocross boots, but they do walk quite nicely, though I had to squirt 'em with a little bit of silicone lube 'cause they squeeked a bit when they got hot! And who's lowsidin' on Wentworth Springs??? Not me (I hope) :disapint:

1000 posts! 1000 posts! 1000 posts!!!!!!
They look nice! Good pricepoint too.
I lean more towards water-protection and touring. I bought AGV Cascades.
They're OK, not rocking my world or anything.

Ya, I have Alpinestars Roam boot. They are okay for commuting, but what I am looking for is a hard street/track boot at a good price. Thanks for the input! Any others?:)

I've been in the rain plenty of times, never had my toes get wet though.... My complaint is that the velcro wore out so quick, I had to adapt buckles to keep the boots secure. Alpinestars is good stuff, but they need to do more r&d imo.....:pokey:

The boots did arrive today and they are as advertized. Kinda like motocross boots for the street/track. They are very comfortable. Hopefully it will continue to cool off here and I'll get a chance to ride a bit.

These boots are fine. It's nice, as someone pointed out, that you can get your feet into the inner boot, zip them up and tuck your pants into the outer boot and then very securely lock them shut. The hard outer should give great protection.
On another note they come with toe sliders of TI, rofl. Should make great sparks. But they also have a little baggie with plastic toe sliders too. A nice thing.
