View Full Version : Bang in gearbox

I clutched the bike, going about 20ks/hr, in first gear today, the devil made me do it officer, honestly! As I popped the clutch a loud bang came from the gearbox I think. Does anyone know what this is, I was wondering if it had anything to do with the slipper type clutch mechanism I test rode a z1000 earlier in the year and noticed it made the same noise when clutched perhaps going a bit too slow. This is the first time the noise occurred in many wheelies and I done another few after that with and without the clutch and never heard the noise again? Stuffs me.

sorry no noise on mine..but you shouldn't need to clutch at that speed anyway. Just snap on your throttle and pull and she'll lift.
My TLR (god rest her sole) used to do it in 2nd and with a sprocket mod 3rd gear. have'nt tried that on the SV yet but it sure does reach for the sky in first...go son ...balls out :niceone:

No bang but plenty of skyward action without clutch lever action - must have been a one off!
