Any talented photoshop guys want to make a fully faired SV1000? Is Suzuki even making one for the 1000 like they did for the 650? I knew that I would get the lowers for my 650 before I bought the bike. The 1000 doesnt need it as bad, its gorgeous stock, but a good fairing might be sharp.

reminds me a little of the new cbr600rr with the fairing designed like that. From what I know that is a basic concept drawing from 2wheeljunkies who makes full fairings for the gen 1 svs. My last chat with them had a Aug/Sept timeframe so who knows what the fall will bring us :niceone:

What would doing this gain other than a few kilos/pounds? It takes away from the bike more than it gives. If you want weather protection for touring then buy a bike designed to be ridden in the rain - surely that's the answer or maybe not? I'm sitting on the fence to see what the final version actually looks like.

Doesnt really give any more protection its just for appearance. Give the bike a different look that some people like I guess. I like the open engine look but I also like the full faired version. I guess its just a matter of preference.

I tend to agree with Brian, if I'd wanted a fully faired bike I'd have bought a sports/ sports tourer which came with one for free what made me by the SV was the fact that it looked agreesive and a little bit different to most things on the road, Its just got a bit more attitude than your average bike, I almost went with a Fazer1 or even the CB1300 but thought they both looked a bit tame, and I decided to go for my first V2. :D :D :D

I just think the fairings look awesome....I definitely would NOT purchase a set for my SV....it's just nice to know that companies out there are going to offer such an option to the SV world. As I always say...to each their own. Everyone has different tastes and opinions.

Hmmm....
It hides the engine, which is a signature of the bike
It hides the frame, which ranks up there with the Duc trellis
It brings the SV that much closer to 'Repli-Racer' appearance
....just what I didn't want again...
The upper fairing of the S is all I want, thats one reason why I bought it. I guess that sums up my vote. :shifty:

Did someone say vote? I DO like the way it looks...at least from this mock up. I would not add it either though though. The SVs with it's aggressive looks, semi fairing, clip ons, etc...make it quite unique. There are a fair amount of standard, semi-faired bikes out there, but you could count on one short fingered hand the number of semi-naked sport bikes there are. I like fully faired bikes, but the SV is meant to stay as is.

I think the riders in the UK who have to ride 12 months of the year will lok at purchasing these quite seriously. I certainly will, and even if it is only to cover the engine in the winter monthe to help it not get attacked by the crud they throw on our roads to stop them icing over!

bloody hell, I sound like my Dad
:o
Each to their own.
I've ridden all year round and I have to say it was effing cold and a couple of times I nearly
threw the bike on ice.
Fairplay to all-weather riders.
Got myself a 500quid Golf for the winter seasons, stability and a heater. I must be getting old...
Having said that I do love this bike, I might just give it a go...

if you like plastics try http://www.sharkskinz.com/suzukisv1000s.htm and get creative. with some vision you can turn this bike into a monster.
I ride in the cold / rain, but its like a drug addiction, I dont really enjoy it all that much, its more like I need it. and I dont think plastic are gonna help you much. ( ur still outside dummy)

I just can't seem to get used to the Suzuki fairing. It looks too, well, aftermarket. It doesn't look right on the bike. I do like the sharkskins though, now they look sweet. I bet if Suzuki put full fairings on this bike from the beginning they would sell like hotcakes.

I have the fairing on my silver sv1000s only b/c it came free from Suzuki....here is my opinion, I like the look, mainly because I ride with 3 other sv's so its different, but, my bike runs 10-15 degrees hotter due to the trapped heat. very noticable heat difference, especially on the nads. wouldnt pay for it....but glad it was free

Good thing you have a different screen, I was ready to accuse you of ripping off a pict of the Cycle World bike. The screen they used is just aweful.
I had a poll started back a few months ago. (I dont know how to link it in, guess you can get the thread from my user cp). Anyway, I just posted to it to drag it up again. Seems like we are split over original vs extra spicy :bleh:

i'm thinkin it, the OEM fairing, would look best if it was a mid fairing that incorporated the stock belly pan.

agreed, if I wanted a full fairing bike, I wouldn't be on this site(but to each person, do their own thing)! <_<
