Does anybody know if the throttle cables off an SV650 naked will work for an SV1000S bar swap?

Much thanks,

Jesse

No they won't. The naked cables are completely different. Banditmania and others sell extended SV1000S cables, they will fit SV1000S and SV650S. I think maybe the DL1000V-Strom cables may fit also.

DL cables are way too long and need to be cut down.
Only problem with banditmania cables is the price! Cost with shipping to NZ makes them uneconomic to buy. I'll get some made locally.

Ah yes, I forgot, getting them made locally is the other alternative. Although some people will charge as much as Banditmania, some will be considerably cheaper, depends on the people you have near you.

I promise this is my last question regarding throttle cables

Will these SV1000 (naked) cables work: http://www.suzukipartshouse.com/#/Su...4/56021670042A (Parts # 11 and 12)

(I'm not sure if you meant that all 650 cables are different, or that all Naked cables are different.)

Mucho thankso,

Jesse

I just got my SV but I wanted to be able to go long distances comfortably, this mod is awesome. I used some fly racing dirt bike bars.

Arrow Where can I get lines/ cables "on the cheap"?

So I either pay $90 for the risers or get some cheap ones on ebay. Then get the bar I want maybe $50 or so. If I can't get my lines and cables to work, where can I get longer ones from for cheap and reasonably quick? They seem pretty expensive. From what I've found, by the time I buy all the lines and cables, I might as well buy the $400-$500 kit and have everything professional. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about keeping money in my pocket. Any suggestions???

Also, For those of you who've done this mod, about how long did it take you?

Thanks

See the disclaimer at the top of the first post of this thread.

If you would even think of spending $90 on risers you are clearly NOT a member of The International Brotherhood Of Cheap Scumbags. If you haven't been afflicted by cheapness bordering on insanity this mod will be contrary to your own internal sense of decency, hygiene, and safety.

Ninety bucks for risers alone? Seriously folks, ya shouldn't spend $90 on the whole stinkin' project! If the path of cheapness isn't obvious to you than you should take another path. I think I was clear in the disclaimer in the opening post. This is not a mod for the common idiot. It takes a special kind of idiot to do this!

Cut and pasted from the first page:

Disclaimer

I am the worst of the backyard mechanics. If it can’t be done with a Sawzall reciprocating saw, Makita drill, and Lincoln buzz-box, there ain’t much point in doing it. I have risk my life racing motorcycles with the cases held together with JB Weld. I have done crazy-stupid things like this (XS650 link). I am also extraordinarily cheap. But cheapness has taken me places that money never could.

Beware all who read this thread!
Turn back now!
Back to a nice safe oil or tire thread,
or perhaps even a “which aftermarket exhaust is the best for warning the police I am approaching” thread.

Avert your eyes man! Only the truly adventurously stupid, and the most stupidly adventurous should continue reading from this point.

If you have ever actually paid real money for a timing advancer plate from Lockhart-Phillips, instead of merely slotting the screw holes on the stock plate and grinding off the stops,
RUN AWAY NOW, CARBON FIBER STICKER BOY,
THIS THREAD IS NOT FOR YOU!!!!

Thanks a ton for this writeup, Willie!
I just picked up an SV1000s a few weeks ago. I've been riding an SV650 almost every day last year, and when I picked up the 1000, I was incredibly disappointed with the ergonomics (the previous owner had even made mods to make it worse/more racey).
I'll definitely need to do this to mine.

Sincere thank you from another proud member of the International Brotherhood of Cheap Scumbags.

Well Broken slinky, I was going to welcome you to this site, even though it would seem your a damned Yankee but seeing as your first ever post was to praise my long lost twin brother and not me, i won't.

Of course, if you visit some of my much funnier threads and sing my praises I might just elevate your status from scooter boy to grand prix racer and give you some awards.
