Just got some ContiRaceAttacks Street installed today. I wouldn't have but the deal I got was outrageous and I needed some tires. As the weather is dismal, I won't be tryin to scrub them in today. I'll work on it tomorrow, and Wednesday I'm making a trip to Hotlanta. Since I've not seen them on here yet, I'll give a review.

I had a BT023 fitted yesterday and went for a gentle 50 mile ride to bed it in a bit. Got back and was disappointed to find I hadn't even worn the chicken strips off the centre of the tyre - Doh! I did ask for something that would last longer then the crappy Avon Storm it replaced though so maybe it will be good in the wear department.

Have you got the Dunlop Sportmax SportSmart and RoadSmart tyres over there yet? They get really good reviews over here and the RoadSmart is supposed to be hard wearing with really good grip.

Try out the Bridgestone BT016. They have a hard center and soft sides perfect for your riding needs, I got 6k out of my last set. They grip like powers but last longer and are less expensive.

my 2 cents

seems like today's sport-touring tires will give you great mileage while delivering plenty of grip. I know of two experienced track riders who came away quite impressed with the Roadsmarts and Pirelli Angels after a full day on track with them. I'd recommend a sport-touring rear for the mileage coupled with a sportier front, maybe a 2ct front/Pilot Road 2 rear combo?

My SV1000S came with BT021s and although I don't like them for spirited riding (too numb) they certainly last well - I have ridden well over 3000 miles and 1 trackday on them (they weren't brand new when I bought the bike either) and am swapping the rear today as I have trip to Blackpool this weekend. Unfortunately I have a spare BT021 in the garage which I removed from my Blackbird so will be fitting that and not something new...

What mileage did you get from the Avon Storm? - the SV650 boys are loving the new Avon Storm Ultras at the moment

I only bought the bike a couple of months ago and the rear tyre looked as though it would last ages. I would estimate 4 - mm of tread. Then I went on a holiday to Scotland and it was trashed in the middle 1800 miles and 6 days later. See before and after photos. There were a lot of motorway miles on the way up and back that seemed to do it.

That sucks

I converted all my biking friends to Continental Road Attack tyres a couple of years ago and they are all still using them - Bandit 1200, Triumph Sprint ST, SV650, R6 - I was getting about 3000 miles to a rear on my old Z750 but as the tyres were reasonably priced and the tyres were so good I wasn't too bothered.

Any idea at all how many miles that Storm had done before you bought it?

I've no idea at all but it looked quite new and there was no sign of it starting to flatten off in the middle. I'm not sure if it's a multi compound tyre but it doesn't look like it.

We got delayed on the way home and the last 300 miles were a solid 90mph blast wherever traffic would allow - which was most of the time.
I could see it wearing away before my eyes at each petrol stop.

I had Qs and now run PP 2CTs. The 2CTs seem to grip just as well and wear better.
