After applying this mod fuel consumption has fallen to 3,6-3,8 litres to 100 kilometres. It disturbs me a liitle, as this is absolutely scanty in comparison with 6-6,5l before. It is normal?

Simultaneously I have replaced a regular exhaust with a bolt-on yoshimura, but I do not think that it could so to affect. The fuel consumption was measured on the big run to exclude influence of short-term factors. Last gauging - 310 km at driving with the passenger on highway with const. speed 130-150 km\h -
and the overall consumption is 11,7 litres !!! I am very surprised by it |

Hi All,
Did my Simple TRE this morning. I took a few pictures along the way, while checking my steps. Basically if you find something weird, let me know and I'll fix it. People at work ask me if I ever wrote brochures, since I tend to go into so much detail. So I'll preface all this by saying that I'm honestly trying to take out all the overwhelming Wall of Text that I normally output. I'm literally like the Anal Retentive Chef. Overview ![]() Zoomin' In ![]() Detail of Connectors ![]() Connector pulled out to side ![]() Closeup of the Connector ![]() Peel back old Shrink Tubing, Cut and Strip wire ~8mm ![]() 6.6kOhms of Resistance used, 2x3.3kOhm 1/4W Carbon Film resistors ![]() Setup of Bargin Basement Solder station and Netbook referencing this thread ![]() 6.6kOhms of resistance ![]() Taking a break in the action, to not overwhelm I hope. |

And some more
Tools setup at the Bike ![]() Soldered In I slipped two short pieces of Heat Shrink Coaxial, so I could easily extend the shrink out the required distance to cover the Resistor addition to the Pink Wire. ![]() Solder Detail ![]() Heat Shrink applied ![]() Zip Tied Up ![]() If it looks like I messed something up, please let me know. Everything works great on the bike, took out some stutter that I still had after doing the TPS Adjustment. I'm sold / convinced / happy. Isn't that what really matters? |

I just completed this mod yesterday. i used a 6.8kohm resistor from work that i measuered to be close to 6800ohms (5% tolerance) I simply cut the pink wire and soldered in the resistor. Couldnt have took me longer than 20-30 minutes. I test rode the bike and i can defintly tell a difference. Seems to be getting more fuel ( or a better map) at the lower gears. Better throttle response on and off. It didnt clear up the decel poping from the exhuast though. Im not picky about that but i thought i had read in here somewhere that was one of the after effects of the TRE mod. Either way im pleased and looking foreward to some more riding this weekend.

It's not getting more fuel... the bike isn't retarding ignition timing in the lower gears and is making better use of the programmed fuel trim. Also, popping from the exhaust has absolutely nothing to do with ignition timing, TRE's, or any of that. It's an emissions device called the PAIR (Pulsed Air Injection R-something or other LOL). You either remove that system or block it off at the airbox and suddenly no popping! Glad you like the TRE mod though... soon there won't be an SV that doesn't have it

okay, thanks for clearing that up. I had the wrong idea about what the TRE was/did. And i will have to look into the PAIR system, maybe another project this weekend. Either way this is a great, simple, easy and effective modification to do.

What a difference!!!!!!!!!
I received my connectors from Eastern Beaver Company. I don't like to hack into a stock wiring harness. Well I built a 6K8 (6.8K ohm) resistor TRE jumper. This was on a 05 SV1000s, what a difference. I have riddin a lot of motorcycles with 45 years of riding, I got my SV this spring. I was almost getting used to having to run the motor at 4000 so it would run smooth at low speeds. My bike has Yoshimura RS3 bolt-ons with the quiet core, have done the TPS mod and synched the throttle bodies. Compared to multi cylinder the SVtwins are very sensitive to synchronization they were less than a centimeter out and bringing them even really helped.

i have a few questions so you just soder the resistor into the pink but where on the line exactly.... and whats the issue with using stock maps and and a custom powercommander map? is there no map issue in the switchable tre becasue you can turn it off for cold starting and just turn it on when the bike is hott? sorry im just trying to get it barney style.... i was going to purchas the switchable tre but if i can just make one myslef with the 6.3 resister and have it work better id rather put a little bit of leg work in....

I tried it and liked it... My bike had a custom mapped PCIII but with that installed the fuel is mapped with the timing retardation in place. So I disconected the PC, noticed the difference and then installed the TRE. The bikes runs pretty much the same as with the PCIII now but with a little less topp-end. I don't mind tough, cause I rarely see redline anyway...
This really is a SMART mod and does anyone want to buy a PowerCommander...? =) Don't mind the spelling and stuff... I'm a stupid Swede. =D |

Has anybody else ditched their Power Commander since fitting this mod, or have they gone back and had a dyno run and adjustments to the PC ??

I ditched the PC on my SV650. I was disappointed with the cost to benefit of my PC and once I realized my TRE offered a similar improvement I decided to sell the PC and put that money towards more beneficial mods.

Any serious tuner will need the bike for a day to run/tune it in all gears as well as cruising and so on. A couple of full throttle runs in one gear won't get you anywhere nere where you want to be... Edit: Sooo, does anybody want to buy...
