I agree about a recall and this needs to be corrected by Suzuki. Its a major safety hazzard. If my V-Star got recalled because of the very slight possibility of the seat bolt coming loose then surely the SV is worthy of a recall for this problem.

Totally agree Chris,
EVERYONE that has had this issue needs to take the time to report it. Nothing will happen otherwise. As Chris Shelly posted, here's the link:

Count me as one of the stricken....

Hello... I have been lurking around the forums for some time now but have yet to really post anything, until now.

I road my copper, 2003 SV1000-S to work today, just to come out to NO POWER. Nothing....Nada.....Ziltch. It acts as if I have removed the battery! I thought I had blown a fuse but ALL the fuses look great. All I could do is call a friend and he helped me load it into his truck and take my baby over to my local motorcycle mechanic. My mechanic was completely puzzled.

So, I decided to search the forums here. I somehow knew that someone here would have the answer. Right I was! You guys rock!

Now I get to go in the morning and help the mechanic fix my bike!

P.S. I am going to file a complaint as well with the NHTSA!

Similar Problem

Hope I dont have this problem But!!!
Here's the symtoms
travelling slow in traffic >> 2000 rpm power goes for a second and oil light comes on flickers then the motor picks up again,
this happens about 3 times in quick succession in a period of about 4/5 seconds this happened twice in one trip I did not need to use the starter! not seen before My SV1000sz only six months old.

Any thoughts

Ron

Best thing to do would be to check out the connection & make sure. Better to catch it now & be sure, than to have it cut out mid turn.....

Your right there Rich, but I believe everyone should bypass the plug whether they have the problem now or not. The question isn't if it will heppen, but when it will happen. Mine was like new but I still made the changes.

Cheers

Ignition

Yeah I've booked mine it for service Saturday 17th Sept
Hope the dealer sorts the problem
The dealer is 30 miles away so it may recur on the way for investigation/fix.

Cheers

Smile well spotted

Saturday it was - the 16th it wasn,t
Your right: anyway I got it in on Saturday the dealer adjusted the Idle setting
and the side stand, the paperclip (sidestand lever ) was bent slightly and could have caused the cut-out to actuate?
Dealer claimed all was well with TPS and no electrical fault found - well -
I'me keeping my fingers crossed - makes hard work of the clutch and front brake

Done about 80 miles since seems OK so far.

Cheers

Ron

ignition cut out

I have an 03 sv100s and have had the ingnition cut out two times. Has anybody determined the exact problem causing this? Fortunately, my bike cut out (the bike just stopped running. I turned the key to the off position, back to on position and it started again fine) when I was on a straight. My mechanic just opened up the tip over sensor and filled it w/ silicone, which will keep the tip over sensor from activating. I'm still very concerned b/c if this is not the problem I don't want the bike to cut out mid corner..... HELP. My mechanic thinks there could possibly be a problem w/ the circuit board in the tip over sensor? I'm going to get a new tip over sensor, have the mechanic fill that w/ silicone and install. I'M STILL VERY PARANOID. I love this bike so much, but am thinking of getting rid of it if we're all unable to solve this mystery. holy crap!!!!

Check the connector to the ignition & see if there is any arcing. This is typically the source of the problems..........There is a lot of info here on the site on how best to correct this problem.........

The sensor isn't the issue! The Gixxer 750's have that issue.

Don't get rid of it M8... I can almost guarantee that it is the green connecter in-front of the airbox that is bad. See pics and other posts on this thread.

Cheers
