hey all, new member here. i am considering a new sv 1000s. not to concerned about fastest, best handling, cornering, braking bike out there. just looking for good all around bike....has to be a v twin though. i like looks of sv and reliability of suzuki. i am 6'4" 215 lbs. 39 yrs old. been riding for bout 25 yrs or so. dirt bikes, street bikes, mini bikes...if it has 2 wheels and an engine i like it. i currently have 97 h-d flht, 98 honda valkyrie, 75 kaw z1 900, 89 kaw kx 250 in garage. any info anyone here has for me concerning purchasing sv 1000s will be greatly appreciated.

New one!

Hi all! I'm from France, not yet a SV1000S owner but I hope it will be the case within the following weeks!!! I rode a Yam 750 XV, a Yam 750 YZFR, stopped motorcycle for several years, and bought a new one (HD 1340 softail) 1 year 1/2 ago. Now I am selling it cause I fell in love with SV1000S!
See you

Unfortunately not. It is not far away (150km = 93 miles) from my location. Last time I was there more than 10 years ago with a Yamaha RD 250. Lots of fun, if you have to go into the green in the first curve of the first round
In the meantime the Nordschleife - especially on weekends - is crazy to drive as there are too many ugly cars. All spectators are waiting for the next "funny" crash.

For the ones who do not know Nordschleife: It is next to the formula 1 racing track "Nürburgring" and is used for several kind of races. On some special days it is open for everyone to have a ride with car or bike for 14 Eur = 18$.

Though I've never crashed on the North Loop I sure have come close. Had many a friend destroy a bike (and bones) out there. Great fun but you are right about the crazies in cars. Crested a hill once in full tuck with the throttle pinned to the stop to find a fucking tour bus in the middle of the track. On a scale od 1 to 10 the Pucker Effect was at 20!

Hi everyone
Have been following this forum for some time now and amazed at the amount of knowledge out there about the SV1000. Have returned to biking after a long absence. Had a 1985 GPz900 Ninja for year before trading it in on the SV. This is my first V2 and I'm loving it. I'm finding the information on suspension settings and the like most useful and thank members for sharing their knowledge

Cheers
RS

Newbie

New to the forum and the bike.

After 20 years without a bike in the garage, my wife just got me 2003 SV1000S for our 20th . . . I've got a looooong SoCal commute with plenty of opportunity to split lanes (legal here) and my life insurance is finally worth something.

In my past life I was an open class off road rider; this is my first pure street bike. I love the big twin already, it lugs down and almost thumps, then revs out nicely. But the suspension has been a little confusing; way too much dive going into the corners with the stock settings, and I'm in no way capable of pushing a street bike. I just gave it a little more preload in front with a definite improvement and will be trying out some of the many suggestions found here. Thanks to all for sharing!

BTW: $6499 USD out the door in LA for my 2003!

Thumbs up Hello

Hello boys and girls. Just registered on this great site. I'm not quite yet an SV owner though I do pick it up on the 1st of March. It's a blue SV1000S. I have been off bikes for a year, my last one being a VFR800. My other half has just passed his test and he's having a Triumph Thunderbird Sport so I decided to get back on two wheels too. I'll be asking a lot of questions so please be patient. Cheers.
