Shoei X-12

Anyone have a Shoei x-12 helmet yet? They are new for 2010 and meet Snell M2010 and DOT standards.

I've had an X-11 for ~5 years and love it, but it's time to replace it. The x-11 is M2005 / DOT rated, but after the Motorcyclist magazine helmet article, the snell standard has been redone for 2010...

Anyway, I am 99.9% sure I am going to get an X-12 soon.

Thoughts? I like the Kagayama 3. My x-11 is solid silver, but I think I want something a little fancier this time around.

I, too, have an X-11 and it's also a little over 5 years old (I can't believe I've had it that long!). I had bought it on sale back in the day, and getting an X-12 is simply way, way, way too expensive.

If you can afford it, why not?

I'll be targetting helmets that are $300 or less... HJC comes to mind.

Thanks for the feedback. I had an HJC before my x-11 and it felt like my head was going to be pulled off at speed. The x-11 spoiler fixed that. Also, Shoei's seem to fit my head better than the HJC's I've tried.

I agree they are pricey, but I'm ok with it.

Maybe they've fixed that since then? It is definitely something I worry about and probably why I might have my X-11 for a bit longer... Actually, I might go for the X-11 again since they have to sell off the old inventory. AHA - I'm so smart.

Actually yes, I saw some closeout prices for the x-11 on kneedraggers.com. I didn't look anywhere else, but I am sure others will have (better?) deals as well. Although I seem to remember paying around $400 for my x-11 brand new. I just forget where I got it from...

http://www.kneedraggers.com/catalog/Shoei/X-11 ($455 = too much for x-11 imo, but those are replicas so idk.)

Also, for ref: http://www.kneedraggers.com/catalog/Shoei/X-12

The cheapest I've seen is $300 for a blue E-boz, and $350 for everything else.

Here's one of the sites with those prices:

Anyway - I'll be quite happy if you get an X-12 and do an X-11 vs. X-12 comparo!

edit -- I found a pretty good comparo here:
