K6-K7 SV front forks measurement required

can someone with a k6/k7 do me a big favour, i want to know the distance that the fork tubes poke through the top yoke as fitted at the factory. i know k3 bikes were 6mm and most dropped them to 12mm to stop the bike sitting up in corners, and any more than 12mm caused a tank slapper which caused more than one to sling it up the road.
My bikes forks were poking up 17mm which made it very sharp and nervous but more than once recently I have felt the starter of a tank slapper at high speed so today I dropped the forks to 12mm, but I would like to know what the standard setting was originally. It is unlikely the k5-k7 setting would be the same as the k3 as the frames are different and have different head stock angles.

Not too sure about the different frames Nigel. I believe its only the subframes that are different!
Both my bikes were 6mm when I got them and have taken them to 12mm.
Was there another change from K6?

Hi m8, no the frames are definitely different the head angle is 1,1/2 degrees more erect than the k3/4
but i would imagine the fork drop on a k6 will be the same as a k7 however i found why the bike was trying to slap it was the steering damper running out of oil and with air inside see the other thread today.
however i have now put my forks up to 12mm as 17 made it a twitchy handfull on the bumpy roads

My K6 measures 16 mm to the OD edge of the cap and I raised them 5 mm. Hope this helps.
