Hello from California Central Valley

Hi everyone, new member here. Recently picked up a 2004 SV1000S w/ 28k miles and I am currently going through all the technical info on the forum. Unfortunately the rotor magnets have slipped (on the bright side they are all intact), so I am getting familiar with the bike by performing the JB weld fix. The green connector fix, mosfet r/r upgrade, and rear shock swap are up next then the bike should be bulletproof for years to come.

Forum support was one of my considerations when choosing a bike (previously had a DR650) and there seems to be a great community here. Looking forward to learning more about these machines!

Keep us posted with your progress. Oh, and don't forget pics of the new bike when you get a chance!

@Missing Link Proof is in my avatar photo! The reference is to a motorcycle club I was involved with at my university a couple years ago. We were called the Penguins, and since most people rode MX or dual sports we proved that penguins can indeed fly!

@Masta' C Once I get everything buttoned up, I'll post a photo. I got this bike with full intentions of being an ongoing project, so it probably won't stay in one configuration for long. When I was looking for a bike, all I knew was that I wanted a V-twin standard/sport bike for street and track duty. Rode a few Italian bikes, but parts availability turned me off. Then I heard the SV1K with Yoshis... Love the exhaust note, and the straight cut gear whine from the cams reminds me of a VFR750 I previously had. Too bad none of the big four make a modern 1000cc V-twin sport bike anymore!

JB weld is curing at the moment, and the green connector has been replaced with properly sized bullet connectors that were packed with dielectric grease, and heat shrunk. Shouldn't give me any issues down the road.

Thanks for the welcome!
