Introduction.
Hello There,
Nice site you`ve got here. I've been reading for some time, and now I've decided to introduce my self.
My name is Jordan, I ride a k3 SV1000S.The bike has 12k km on the clock I bought it at 5k.
Recently I've fitted the ABM Superbike conversion kit with steel braided lines for the brakes and clutch.
Now I'm on the lookout to upgrade the suspension a bit.
New fork springs and oil plus ,a gsx-r k5 600 shock and a proper shock spring.
Best regards,
Jordan.

Didn't I read on this forum that the K6+ 600 forks were easier because they are longer than stock and the K4-K5 tubes were shorter than stock? So the K4-K5 tubes had to be set lower than the top of the triple?
According to the previous owner, I have K5 GSX-R1k forks and they are set flush.

As far as I know - K6/K7 GSX-R 600/750 forks are the same length as SV ones.
I found out that the shock from the k4/5 600/750 is the same length as the stock SV one..
You can distinguish the gsx-r1000 forks by the colour of the lower fork tube - silver for 600/750 and black for 1k.
From all the reading on this site and over the net... I have been able to complete the suspension puzzle for my self.
- The most Fiddling with the suspension I'm willing to go through for next season is a linear spring+new oil in the forks(Found some 9k/mm Ohlins fork springs which should be ok for my skill level/riding/weight(96kg)),a k5 gsx-r600 shock with 8.5 kg/mm K-tech spring+new oil.
After that I'm willing to rebuild the forks and shock with Race tech gold valves and if needed to change the springs.
I don`t intend to do much more than that on the suspension, should be pretty decent for nice pace canyon/mountain pass riding.
Other things that are truly worth it are steel braided brake(for the front)/clutch lines and nice brake pads.
Best regards,
Jordan.
The K6-K7 front forks on the Gixxer 600-750 are 3mm shorter than the SV forks from axle centreline to the top of the fork.
You will need a K5 600/750 top triple to keep the ignition switch in the SV position, but the stem hole needs to be drilled out to suit.
This is what i had to do on mine. (my pic shows the SV forks still)

Have anyone had any experience with the Race Tech spring rate calculator?
I've read that they recommend a bit stiffer springs than needed.
I'm playing around with all the spring rate calculators I managed to find on the internet in order to figure out what springs to get for the back and front of my SV...
I've not yet reached to a solid conclusion... I'm 96 kilos without any gear...
For my skill level and the type of riding I want to do - Race tech recommended 9.2-9.4 kg/mm.. for the front and 8.60-8.69 for the back...
I found some Ohlins 9km/mm front springs and a К-Tech 8.5 kg/mm back spring so I'm wondering if this will be ok for a not so advanced rider of my weight... Or it will be too soft... I've ordered one K5 gsx-r600 shock that I intend to put in.

Best regards,
Race Tech does suggest slightly stiffer springs than what is probably best for the street..... if they say 0.95 for example, get the closest spring below that rate......
