So that was a load of bo**cks when Suzuki said they can't get the 1000cc vtwin engine through the new emission laws as to why they stopped producing our beloved SV .... They have missed the boat yet again as they have with the new GSX-S1000 being marketed 10 years to late..
What a great bike a SV 1200cc engine in a GSX-S1000 naked would be...!!!
My first thought on these is "Damn, they must be heavy".
Just bought a 2006 Suzuki DR-650 to complement my faithful 03 SV-1000 Naked. The Dr weighs 366# with full tank and that can easily be lowered to 350#. Down in old Ralphie's comfort range..
I love the new electronics on the 1000. To me electronics are just like insurance, I don't want to use them, but I'm glad they are there in case I make a mistake. I can definitely see my Versys being replaced by a new V-Strom 1K. I believe safety in a motorcycle should be approached like it is in aircraft, avoiding accidents.
I got a chance to ride the new 1000 at Austin last Friday! :headbang:
They had the standard and XT version there but no 650.
Anyway, it's a big bike is the thing that stuck out at me most. Very similar to the L4 model engine wise so if I got one it would probably be a older one with the beak. Sorry about the pics, damn cell phone rotates the pics and has a mind of it's own!
Got a line on a 0 mile red L4 V-strom 1000 for $8289.00 OTD price.
Don't really have enough money to pull the trigger on a great deal. PM me and I can tell you where it is up here!
