Missing Link Ha Ha...

I did say "from memory".... in fact, the 2 nd last digit does denote a difference... like th espeedo assemblies....form one market and year/variant to another they could be 30, or 60 or even 10 i think.....
I remembered that last night... silly bugger.....

The springs themselves will be the same, but the spacer tube will probably be the difference i am guessing...but, in any event, you should be setting it up using the relaxed/actual calculations to get it right
anyway.....remove the cartridge from one fork to do the measurements right, then apply the changes to the other leg when you are finished....

estevns Thanks for all the information.

Nice to know there is some kind of context to the spare part numbers. However looking at N and S swingarm: They should be different length, but only the last two digits is different? Or did i missunderstand something?

Anyway I'll order a set of springs tonight. Being from Europe (Denmark) limits the options for springs a little, if you are to avoid additional import fees. I've found a Italian shop on eBay selling Race Tech, and another one selling Bitubo.
I've not been able to find anyone with Bitubo springs in the front on their SV, so the safe pick will be Race Tech I believe.

Missing Link ...only way to tell if they different for sure is to put them in a spring compressor that, one, measures the weight applied, and two, has a depth gauge to measure the length.....

As far as the part numbers go, if it is the very last digit that is different, then it will only be a superseded number, if its the 2nd last number it will be a different source, in either of those two cases
it will be the same part, only different.... ha ha... thats from memory anyway....

tzk321 I'm quite certain that the springs are identical. I have the addendum to the shop manual for the N version and there's no mention of different springs. I've also measured the springs and they're the same length as the S springs,

Missing Link "slight" possibilty the S and N ones were different OEM rate because of less weight over the front on the N model, maybe ?

The sparepart catalogue is a little messy and got different numbers for the early, later, S, and N.

estevns I've been looking into a set of Racetech springs myself. However i noticed they only got springs for the S model in their search engine.

Did you confirm with Racetech it would work out for your N model? Or is just a matter of a shorter spacer needed? To my knowledge the S fork legs are 5 mm longer?

Missing Link UPDATE.....

Did the job as per the Racetech worksheet..... my front end (Gixxer 06-07) needed 10mm of actual preload...... now bearing in mind, when i fitted the 1.0kg springs, the Racetech instructions
told me, i think, to make sure the spacer and spring were the same length as the OEM spacer spring setup.... which would mean i had to cut 10mm off the spacer...i didnt do that....
I cut 5mm off..... 3 years ago this is.....

And, guess what.....i have 10.5mm actual preload....

I though i was gonna have to slowly slowy trim down a fresh spacer until i got it, considering the top out spring has some say over the lenght of the main spring as load alters.....

But, nope, all is sweet..... gonna look at my travel with a zip tie and see how that is now......

Missing Link I realised something... i dont have to pull my internals out to do this, only the springs...

I have a set of internals spare...forgot i had them..... i can do the set-up on them, and then transfer the springs and adjusted spacers over..... WOO HOO

Ok....I am getting little ticked off, i want to find a video of the actual process of doing what racetech have on the worksheet....but, do you reckon there is one ?

It is not making much sense thats all when i look at my spring / spacer setup

Missing Link Yeah, at this time, i am not sold on them, maybe i like a little more sponginess....?
But, considering i might not have set the installed preload right, i might be behind the 8 ball a bit....

PLEASE SOMEONE TELL US WHAT RELAXED AND ACTUAL means.... Ha Ha

I am guessing that actual is the important one.....i might check it at the weekend....probably have to have the
damping unit out of the fork to do it right......

How do the 1.0 springs feel to you? (too stiff/too soft/just right)
