Wow, wet liner 102.5 mm cylinders with two possible stroker cranks. This might be a fun kit to try. I am tempted... I want some dyno info and want to know if the cases can deal with this kind of power and torque.

Wondering how the stock cams would tolerate that displacement increase? I really like the power-band it has now and wouldn't like to give up a couple thousand revs on the top end if my guessing is correct, so are new cams part of the 'kit'?

Definitely would be fun to ride with the additional torque it would have. Yes!

More than you paid for the bike? Big deal. If it's bang for your buck you're after, you should sell the SV and buy something fast in any case. But if you love your bike and want some more poke, then you have to pay to play.

$5000... for those sort of performance mods it's chump change.

Bleh, that website is horrible...

Here is another choice for your big bore needs. Spears Enterprises
I think most people are aware of Spears kits. His is a simple 2mm overbore kit on the stock cylinders.

These kits are huge bore (4.5mm) increase and bunch of possible strokes. Bores this big require a wet liner which is much more complicated than just boring and replating the stock cylinders.

My biggest concern with this kit in an SV would be cooling capacity. My hot stock bore motors push the cooling system to the edge and my 2mm overbore engines can be areal pain on stock radiators.

for 5000$ wouldn't it be a better deal to throw a turbo on it, spend way less that that an call it a day?

For that sort of power, I would expect to have to spend money on internals if I was using forced induction. A turbo also has a big effect on how the exhaust sounds, which might matter to some with a twin.

If money was the only beef, then you'd not bother and buy an IL4 litre bike which would crucify it anyway.

Show me a turbo setup that costs "way less" than $5k , complete. :blah:
Ha, that's the easy part. Hell you could do it for way less than $5k NZD (about $10k USD).

You'll need a turbo, an intercooler, some plumbing, some larger injectors, a PC3 with the ignition module and MF hub (although I'd consider ditching it all for a new ECU), an exhaust, and bugger all else. See Jon James' thread, that's about it.

Of course, we're talking 165hp here from the big mother, and I don't believe the stock gear would take that for long, thus there'd be internal engine work that comes with it, and you'd probably spend just as much on that as the shit on the outside.

/edit: Here's some off the shelf kit (i.e. waaaay more expensive than you'd do yourself) for an MX5 http://www.mx5mania.com.au/turbo.htm#Kits/Packages
