What are the benefits of this mod?

Well first, it allows you to mount the 6.00 inch wide, 2005 - 2008 GSXR1000 design of wheels on the rear end of your SV1000....

Then it allows you to mount a 190/55 rear tire and maybe up to a 200/55 rear tire... These are performance tires what will give you larger contact patch... These tires will also raise the rear end of the bike lighting up the steering effort required to lean and take corners...

NOTE: These are the 5.50 inch wide, GSXR600 design wheels on the rear end of both my SV650. The SV1000 take the bigger 2005 - 2008 GSXR1000 rear wheel...

They are good enough to go on the track....

And they are good enough to win championships...

Luis

PS I THINK you can also Mount the 2009 - 2011 GSXR1000 rear wheels... with this design spokes...

However, I have yet to measure it the New GSXR1000 rear wheels...

A few more kits are on order...

One problem with this is you then have odd wheels, the front design won't match the rear.

A lot of guys go with the GSXR front ends... Right?

And even if you keep the SV1000 front end the matching GSXR 1000 front wheel is a direct bolt on... Right?

Yep lots of people do but they use the front wheel from the SV.

And even if you keep the SV1000 front end the matching GSXR 1000 front wheel is a direct bolt on... Right? It is a direct bolt on, but then again i can't see many people wanting to buy both wheels just so they can have a 6 inch rear.

Luis
Only my opinion but i can't see many doing it.
I guess I can see your point of view... (No. Not really...)

Why get different wheels? ...When everyone else has the OEM wheels on their SV1000. - I :pokey: OEM bikes with a stick, like I :pokey: roadkills.

Why get lighter and stronger vaccum cast wheels? ....When the ones on the bike still roll... - Have you ever seen a car, with a nice set of wheels? It wasn't your car was it?

Why increase the rear tire contact patch? ...When at the posted speed limits, :pcplod: you do not need more than what the bike comes with OEM... - Who likes to ride slow? :scooter:

Why personalize your bike? ...When you can be like E V E R Y O N E - E L S E. . . - :blank: [Boy, this can be fun...]

:wallbash: - Why? why, why....?

If women came all the same... But, you could upgrade your Girlfriend in anyway you wanted... Hardware and software...

Would you keep her Fat and Ugly anyway??? :devil2: HELL NO!!!!!!!!! :devil2:

I would get her a some nice long legs, and of course, a nice big round bootey... Shave some weight here and there... Buy her some cooking, cleaning, extra affection and loving skills... :innocent: I can see this being a never ending built too...

Yeah same way with your bike... It can be b o r i n g ... Or it can be EXCITING!!! ...Like a dream come true!!!

Wow it's 5:54AM... I better go to bed... Good nite... Luis

I agree its a nice mod...still not sure it my thing but for those that want it great. As for the tires you can run a 190 anyhow and get the larger patch, can't run a 200 but if you can't hold it on a street with a 190 then the 200 ain't gonna save you. Nice sales pitch though!:devil2:
I guess I can see your point of view... (No. Not really...) As i said its my point of view, yours seems to be one of making money out of yours.

Why get different wheels? ...When everyone else has the OEM wheels on their SV1000. - I :pokey: OEM bikes with a stick, like I :pokey: roadkills. Just because YOU hate OEM wheels doesn't mean everyone else should or does.

Why get lighter and stronger vaccum cast wheels? ....When the ones on the bike still roll... - Have you ever seen a car, with a nice set of wheels? It wasn't your car was it? Lighter wheels are good if you can ride like Rossi or Stoner, you are neither. Yes some wheels look good on cars but you get to see a whole lot more of the wheel than you do on a bike, and as for it being my car.......i don't have a car and never have, bike license only for me.

Why increase the rear tire contact patch? ...When at the posted speed limits, :pcplod: you do not need more than what the bike comes with OEM... - Who likes to ride slow? :scooter: So having more of a contact with the road makes you ride faster, i can ride the bike to its max speed without more tyre contact. It seems you want more contact when cornering, if thats the case stick with your car.

Why personalize your bike? ...When you can be like E V E R Y O N E - E L S E. . . - :blank: [Boy, this can be fun...] Lots of people personalize their bikes, i just made a comment on not seeing why everyone would want to do what you are suggesting.

:wallbash: - Why? why, why....?

If women came all the same... There lies the fault with this, all women don't come the same just as bikes don't or didn't you notice? But, you could upgrade your Girlfriend in anyway you wanted... i did upgrade my girlfriend (well wife actually) its called getting a divorce, no matter what you make her look like on the outside she will still be the same inside.

Would you keep her Fat and Ugly anyway???

See previous answer. As i said this is just my opinion.

That's all it is. Directed toward those to whom bling is king.
Wider rear tire may give a bigger contact patch but can also slow turn in
Nice Argument... I always enjoy a good argument...

I guess I can see your point of view... (No. Not really...) As i said its my point of view, yours seems to be one of making money out of yours.
- It's Not about the money, I am just a service provider... The machine shop wants their money... The Machine shop equipment wants their money... It is an endless money hungry society... I sound like a politician here... Or a crazy tree hugger... Believe when I say I am niether... Oh and selling a $125.00 kit on a forum is not gonna make me rich... Maybe I can get a set of Race tires once a year :supsmiley:

I don't think 1% of all SV1000 would ever buy my kit... But for those 0.25% left... Hey I got you guys covered!!!

You don't have to be Rossi or Stoner to get the benefits of better wheels... You dont have to be a Racer to enjoy good suspension either... I love my SV... But the confort of my BMW is hard to beat...

Why increase the rear tire contact patch? ...When at the posted speed limits, :pcplod: you do not need more than what the bike comes with OEM... - Who likes to ride slow? Seriously? The limiting factor for most mortals is their mental fear... Open a door to confidence with good tires and more available grip and try the same corners again... :supsmiley:

Of course... I mean why play with GSXR wheels when you can just buy some Marchesini wheels like I did...

For most people is cost...

Can you afford the $2,499.95 new Marchesini wheels?
How about the $400.00 GSXR wheels?

:wallbash: - Why? why, why....?

It was a retorical comment... I was trying to make you understand that will and money are the limiting factors to upgrade your bike

I just put a set of used OZ wheels on my bike. Yes, compared to the OEM wheels it dramatically changes the bikes appearance & as they are lighter I am sure will affect the handling. I have not been able to push the bike as the weather has been terrible. You can see my profile pic & there is another thread with additional pics as well as my facebook page. Everyone wants to individualize their bikes, of that there is no question. How far one ones to go is dictated by pocket book depth & desire.....
Sales Pitch
That's all it is. Directed toward those to whom bling is king.
Really???

I always thought that Bling was something that does nothing for performance... Such as chrome or custom paint...

I AGREE THAT THE MANUFACTURERS DO AN AMAZING JOB ON THEIR VEICLES... THEY DO A FANTASTIC JOB TO THE AVERAGE JOE FROM POINT "A" TO POINT "B"!!!

HOWEVER, EVERYTHING DONE IN MASS PRODUCTION CAN BE UPGRADED!!!

Having said that, take a look around...

A lot of 600cc Super Sports are using bigger tires than those specified by the manufacturer...
A lot of 1000cc Super Sports are using bigger tires than those specified by the manufacturer...

Suspension work is NOT Bling...
Geometry settings is NOT Bling...
Engine Work is NOT Bling...
Quality Tires (For their intended purpose) is NOT Bling...

Luis

Wider rear tire may give a bigger contact patch but can also slow turn in
THIS IS ANOTHER MISCONCEPTION!!!

It was true that the 180/55 handles better than a 190/50... The profiles are different... The 190/50 has a flatter profile and that makes it turn slower and require more effort to turn direction...

But that is a thing of the past!!!

Today tire manufacturers make 190/55 and 200/55 Rear tires that handle as well as the 180/55...

If you guys enjoy motorcycle performance, read a little on new technology available to us, the average riders...

We do not have to be MOTO GP racers to get pruben performance...
