Riding home from work and the speedo has gone blank.
No rev counter either.
It flickered and flash on an off for a a short distance then nothing.
No orange light when priming fuel, no oil pressure light, no dash lighting.
I have got indicator tell tales and the high beam light.

Any clues form anyone ?

SOLVED

Had a hunch to play around the ECM plug, thought it was that making the dash flicker, but, no....it was the starter relay plug. Took it off, flushed it clean, plucked the wires form the plug and tightened the terminals...... sweet as bro.....

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

DOING IT AGAIN....

Couldn't go for a test ride after the relay plug fix....so on the way to work, died again.......intermittently working, but roughly only 1/2 the actual speed being displayed though.
Wondering if its the actual relay itself internally.....also noticed when it was initially working, that the backlight wasn't as powerful as usual....prob 80%

...wriggling the wiring near the relay makes the dash flicker....so, its strip the tail off and check for broken wiring...
The bike is so old now it is safe to assume that the wiring is probably brittle ....

...so...for those who may have seen this....and for those who may have the issue as well...

Believe it or not, it was a fuse, a working, complete fuse that carried current to do its job, the SIGNAL fuse..... but, unless you wriggled it, the dash was dead...
put a fresh fuse in its place, and no probs at all..... can only think that it was failing under load ??
So, i am replacing all of the fuses, just to be sure... i have had this bike since Sept 03, brand new, ad have never, ever had to replace a fuse.....not even the main one...

This could be a nightmare, I know.
So one of those which can still make and brake continuity, right?
Especially when vibrations involved.
Yeah......the fuse tested as having a circuit, in and out of the bike.....and i did gave it a twist with the tester leads attached, no probs....but in the bike....nope, no joy.
replaced the others as well now...
