I snapped off one of the four "corners" of the square nut on the end of the front sprocket, the one with a hex head bolt through the middle which you remove before continuing to remove the front sprocket. Ever since this, my speedometer has been reading significantly slower than my actual speed, at least 20%. Is that component what the magnet reads to calculate speed? Or could something else be wrong?

I broke the piece while mending the notorious broken flywheel magnet issue, one of mine had came loose and exploded. Could it be a loose cable? Any ideas would be helpful.

The readings will probably be down with 25% (1/4). You will have to replace it to get correct reading again, luckily it's cheap and easy to replace.
