Pulled the Dobeck EFI add-on I've been dithering with since I got the bike, and installed a PowerCommander V.

Started off with the online "Yosh 3/4" map, and it's already a very distinct improvement... much-improved top end, just nibbling at a lean surge at ~4,700 - 5,000 revs on the highway which is an easy fix and hopefully will deliver a meaningful boost in fuel range.

Pulled the trigger on a pair of Givi 41L hard cases for the SV. They are huge and not too sporty looking, but damn they can hold a lot of luggage!
The SW motech rack are designed to rest on the
stock rear fender which is gone, so will need to come up with something else to support them. The will probably go on my gf's 650 when we are going on longer trips. But for the ease of use I might need to find a second pair for my own bike.

Didn't find another pair of Givi cases and rack with a low enough price tag. So had to be creative with some stuff i had laying around.
Long time ago i bought a Sw-motech top box rack (because I thought it might be useful for something someday) and a pair of Ogio textile saddlebags.
Two days spend in the workshop and had a quite nice rack for the bags. Fixed at the passenger handle and foot pegs.

Day after i finished my gf and I went to Norway. Damn it's a beautiful place to ride! The picture below is stolen off Google, but gives a nice impression of the roads at Lysebotn.

Changed the oil....Motul 5100, 10w50, as it has been since i put it together out of the crate in September 2003...

I thought it was worth changing it now it is at 300,000 kms..... yee haa
Hmmm yea I just saw the owners manual page saying 50 wt is ok. Never below about 37 F around here. Maybe I'll give a 10w50 a try, need that for my Predator 500 quad anyway. Always good luck w Rotella T6 but just thought I'd try something different.

I run the 10W50 cause it only gets to zero (Celsius) occasionaly where i am, and the rest of the time its quite moderate or hot in comparison...
i am now at nearing 346k ms ( 215k mls)... little more than the quote of mine

Well I'm sold, I'll give it a try.
Got my $238 worth of freaking new radiator hoses?!!! Just need some time to install them. Got some Maxima Coolanol as well & a new radiator cap. Not messing with the thermostat.

Started changing radiator hoses finally until I realized that its the short hoses around the thermostat that are leaking. Wasn't planning on getting that far down into it. Have the hoses but may as well get a thermostat too. Then I'm thinking while half the bike is apart I should finally do a valve clearance check & check the magnets too.
So I found some SV650 valve check videos but no SV1000S videos. I assume its very similar?

The SV1000 shop manual helped me immensely. It was my first time doing it too.

Yea probably a good idea. Just ordered a couple O rings & I expected the crankshaft plug hole to be alot but its like $11. Can't get it to budge & its already starting to strip a little. And the thermostat was surprisingly only $22. Suzuki parts nation.
