Shout at to Ali at Riders Highway - he has looked after my bike for last 12 years
Couldn’t resist taking a shot in a sort of industrial setting and reflecting how happy I was with my choice of a bike to return to riding 20 years ago.
The copper really shows up in this setting and light

Copper is the best!! Do you find the luggage helpful? I have an Ogio clamshell backpack but its still pretty limited for what you can carry with you.
Hi

Yes top box very useful
Helmet fits in
No aero issues - don’t hit speeds too far past legal
Scored it at wreckers when looking for extra air box for later snorkel
It was cheap b/c no key
They threw in quick detach baseplate for vfr800 for free and I adapted that to my motec? mounting which attaches to sub frame under pillion
I can remove top box and take with me
Yes love the copper too - all black shows engine better but that’s not enough to switch
An “egli” style frame that exposes both cylinders would be perfect

Nice! Yea I could see a quick detach being a good idea. I wouldn't want it on there all the time. Definitely use the space under the passenger seat as well. Its not much but surprising what you can fit in there when you need to.

Haven’t seen other models but my 03 S does have some useable space there

not keen on back packs

forgot to mention the mount to subframe replaces pillow grabrail and uses it’s bolt holes

I always hated backpacks too but this one is really good. Places for 2 mugs/cups & a laptop. Really holds everything in place so nothing moves around.
Oh yea I could see it mounting nicely where the grab bar attaches. I work between an office & a lab about 6 miles apart & hafta transport crap back & forth alot.

I'll get around to sorting it at some point, but it certainly isn't filling me with confidence like my current commuter! Are all SV1000's delicate or something? :ROFLMAO:
They do suffer clutch issues but not quite how you describe, usually a lot of nasty vibration (chudder).
Maybe someone has made an attempt to de-chudder yours and it’s not worked out too good.
Get that RH cover off and take a peak/post some photos, may be a straightforward fix.

Done quite a bit of work on mine so more than happy to help out/advise.

Thanks, I’ll hopefully have a look over the weekend. I noticed the level felt a bit weak and it’s back now the bikes cooled down. Wonder if it’s got some air in it!
It’s had EBC heavy duty plates, springs fitted less than 3000 miles ago so who knows!

Humm, that doesn’t look quite how I was expecting it to look although it doesn’t look like a scene of disaster either.
I’m expecting to see the fingers of the basket and the sides of the friction plates but from memory that’s not the same as mine, unfortunately I’m stuck in a hospital bed at the moment so can’t compare, maybe someone else?

Looks llike the plates are in the right order, last one is offset one tooth as it should be. But beyond that, its cover off time.
Just had a thought, maybe the primary nut on the crankshaft has backed out ? This has happened to some, and it can cause a racket.
