OK guys, I have the same problem with my 2004 SV1000S. Magnets came loose. Found this problem two years ago and reattached with epoxy. It failed again. My question is what glue/epoxy brand (specifically) has worked?
Welcome to the Forum!:)

What many have found to work is JB Weld. The Original formula is the one to use and not the 'Quick' as it can't take the heat as well. There are other epoxies that will work, but JB Weld has held up fine for many of us here.

You can make a square fit in a round hole if you've got enough money.

It was more a matter of how many times do you have to answer the same question, bit of Aussie sarcasm.

I got it. Don't worry.
You see the number of emails and other communications I get offline too...

The worst is when some one wants complete engine set up data, bearing clearance values, squish, porting dimensions, crank balance figures and so forth.

5 loose/broken magnets
No charging system issues, stator looks fine. Will verify w/ ohm test and AC output check once back together.

I plan to buy a new rotor. Thanks for the thread.

You can keep that rotor without the magnets. Someone may want it for a drag racing bike! Hint hint...

All magnets destroyed.
Not sure when they broke since I just got the bike.

2003 SV1000S
29,xxx Km
1 LOOSE MAGNET (no busted bits)
No funny noises or charging system issues + stator looks fine.

Buying a new rotor.

OIL ?..... who cares cos at the end of the day, it makes stuff all difference !

Age & heat deteriorate the epoxy....

if you have a SV1000 & havn't checked yet.... don't kid yourself & check it now !

This is my commuter so has really stuffed me up & major inconvenience !

Common suzuki, this crap is a joke right ?... no service recall !!!!!!

1000's only?
As strange as it may seem, It appears that way.

Effects Vstrom (DL1000's) also...

The Suzuki service guy i talked to today said he's seen lots of suzuki quads come in with buggered Magneto magnets also....

The older these 1000's get, i guess we will start to see more self destructing.

Add me as well.

2005 SV1000S
25k + 40k something (previous owner changed the speedometer unit)

2 magnets were in their right positions, others were moved.

Discovered investigating charging issues.

Well at least we caught it before it imploded taking out the stator & sending shrapnell all through the engine... :gun_bandana:

FYI.... If this doesn't make you want to check your Magneto Rotor (Flywheel) Magnets, nothing will..... I have one loose magnet but likely to have more if i push em hard enough.

MY MAGNETO : svport1.jpg

NEW MAGNETO : svport2.jpg

My Magneto : 2003 SV1000s @ 26,000km. The bike is absolutely immaculate with impeccable service records. Riden mostly at motorway speeds & never sits in traffic (i split cages like my life depends on it). Mainly Ridden in temps 12°C - 24°C.

It's clear to see, the Epoxy has simply deteriorated & LET GO due to AGE & Not heat, oil type or riding style.

Check em now before it takes out your stator or even worse... your engine !
